Food is good here. My problem is that I placed a carry out order for shrimp fried rice. It’s $17.95 with tax coming to $19.60 or so. When I get to the restaurant to pick up the food the total is $23.80. So somewhere in there is a hefty service charge. Plus, who charges $23.80 for a plate of shrimp fried rice?? Then when I’m paying with my credit card the machine asks me to leave a tip.
Urban Wu on Piedmont Road in Atlanta is a great place to go for delicious and fresh Chinese food. I really like the atmosphere and menu that they have available here. The staff here is very friendly and accommodating to make sure that you have the best meal.

Ordered food and appetizers. The food came out before the appetizers. The food was OK. Your typical Chinese spot. No frills on the standards. There was a backside to the menu with some more unique dishes that we did not try. The place itself was nothing fabulous. Supplies were in plain view and workers just standing around. Not busy at all. When we walked in there was a girl on her laptop looking at cars. We later discovered she worked there as she helped remove dishes from the table. Mostlikely will not be returning.
Open on New Year’s Day which is a plus.General tso’s chicken, mail cucumber salad and the bam bam shrimp.Overall the food was the quality you’d expect for Americanized Chinese but it could be better. The General Tso chicken was small pieces and I tend to like my sauce a bit thicker. The mala cucumber salad was great, I love the spicy oil, the thick cloudy oil is very flavorful. Best cold. The shrimp was nice but again, small pieces which isn’t a make or break thing at Al just an observation. Tasted great and I enjoyed the cilantro.I think Grand China is top notch, when you can’t get there- this is a great alternative but doesn’t quite meet price to quality. Was fast and order was accurate!
The dishes we ordered held up well for delivery. The sesame chicken had a delightful ginger flavor that stood out and the lo mein was delicious, best takeout lo mein in Atlanta for sure.
It was fast. And the reusable divided bowl is nice to have. But the orange chicken was tiny little pieces with nearly raw orange peel (supposed to be steamed soft or candied) And a small grain brown rice w/ no flavor. Paid extra for spring roll/s the size of my index finger. Skip this if your hungry run into Kroger instead. Maybe its just lunch. Darn. I really was (and am still) hungry.
I had Singapore noodles, to me it was rather salty and dry compared to other restaurants that serve this dish.
Far exceeded my expectations. Honestly, I was trying to go somewhere else but I missed my turn, traffic was bad, I was getting grumpy, so I just turned in a random place and said let's find somewhere to eat in this shopping center. I'll admit the place is not appealing from the outside. We didn't expect much, but then it turned out to be really good and after living in China for three years we have pretty high standards for Chinese food. The service was great too. If I lived here I'd be a regular.
Shrimp fried rice is really fried rice and three shrimp. It tastes good but just all rice.
