Staying at the Hilton Atlanta, this place was unexpected yet exceeded all expectations. The service from Sam was fantastic, the Mai Tais perfection, and the food very good. Highly recommend.
Was travel weary and wanted a quick meal. Trader Vic's was in my hotel, so I took the elevator down for a Mai Tai and appetizers. The food wasn't entirely awful, which is why I rated this "poor" rather than "terrible." Stepped to the host stand at about 9:00, which was an hour or more prior to closing. Stood behind a small group and waited. And waited. The group ahead of me went to the bar. A gal in line behind me started to leave, when hostess finally appeared. The hostess waved (not spoke, waved) for us both to follow her and pointed at two tables. Only one was cleaned. I nodded for the other gal to take the clean table and waited while the second table was bussed. At our adjacent tables, we waited for a server. The other gal gave up and left. The server wandered in. I ordered a Mai Tai. About 15 minutes later, I went to the not busy bar and asked if my drink was ready. It was, and the bartender brought it to my table. I flagged down another server. That person took my order for an appetizer sampler from the specials menu. Someone else brought it out. It wasn't bad. Then I waited, and waited, and waited for the check. Went to the bar again, and asked the bartender if my original waiter had left the building. Original waiter eventually dropped off the check without a word. I paid, wrote in a $1 tip, and tipped the bartender cash as I departed. Awful, execrable service.
Trader Vicâs, decor alone is worth a visit. That said, the service was slow and the food was just okay. We had fun But I wouldnât rush back.
Greeting was non existent. Got sent to fend for ourselves for our table til we found someone to look up our reservation. Calamari was decent. Nothing special. Smoked salmon was very good. Steak was drowned in onions and sauce. Service very good. Getting pretty run down - like the hotel. Age is definitely showing. Certainly wouldnât come back for a special meal (this was supposed to be one-our 17th wedding anniversary) Oh well:|:|
Food was great with limited menu due to staffing issues. Service was a bit slow, but our server, Tiffany, was so INCREDIBLY fun and friendly that we didn't care. We had a great time. Drinks were tasty and property served. Fun evening. This is the 2nd time we've had problems getting in and out of the restaurant. Months ago there was an elevator problem and we were walked through the kitchen, up an employee staircase to exit the restaurant. This time the lobby elevators were down again, so several of us waited 10-15 minutes in the Hilton lobby trying to figure out how to get to the lower level. We tried the street level restaurant entrance which was closed. There should be a non-elevator method to access and exit the restaurant in case of emergency.
First time at Trader Vicâs but wonât be the last. Samantha, our waitress, was first class and explained the history of Trader Vicâs. She was great! The food was delicious. The atmosphere was one of a kind. I look forward to coming back next time Iâm in the area.
Love this place. Such a fun environment to celebrate special days or just dinner with friends.
It was okay food was really sweet and wasnât much communication between us and server on specifics.
Aside from the hostess, who was awesome, the service was terrible. Our waiter clearly did not want to be there or be bothered. The drinks, (the Mai Tais!) were not good and no one bothered to ask why we didn't drink them. I was very disappointed.
Love the atmosphere and ambiance at Trader Vicâs! We love tiki drinks, but they are so much better when youâve got such a fun, authentic place to enjoy them in. Donât forget to buy a mug on your way out! Our servers were fun and Mr. Bird (a regular patron) gave us a lovely private tour as they were closing sharing historical facts and pointing out the unique authentic features.
