Fast Food Burgers Hot Dogs

This is a place that has lost its nostalgia. The burgers were Luke cold and it took over an hour in line to get that substandard food. If you want burgers or hotdogs I would recommend some place else. Not worth the wait in line.

Yes, it's a huge diner. Food is good. Not great. But the atmosphere, the customer service and the history. Well worth the visit. In town on a family vacation, teenage sons loved it. Easy to find in midtown. It's a throwback, refreshing to a guy born in early 60s. Simple menu. Sometimes a chili dog and onion rings is necessary when hormone free, free range chicken with kale and avocado with housemade balsamic vinegar is on every menu, just going old school is a welcome break.

I ate here when I was visiting a nearby city. Great food, fast service. Fun time. Thanks! (Date of visit, not exact)

What a HUGE disappointment !!the Hot Dog had no taste the chili was like glue, the only thing you could taste was the mustard. The fries were ok !! Wil not be eating here again

What a place! The unique charm that only a place of 50+ years can produce. It’s beauty is the simplicity of it. Hamburgers , hot dogs, onion rings, and fries. And it hasn’t changed since my first visit 20+ years ago - except they don’t take cash now - that’s probably different.Nestled between Atlanta downtown and the Georgia Tech campus, I love this spot.Make sure you learn the lingo before you order - I’m a C Dog All The Way.Enjoy!!

My husband was so excited to take me to The Varsity. He had been there 30 years ago and raved about the chili dogs. It was the last dinner stop before we headed out. The lines were long and slow but we assumed it was because they were as good as he remembered. As we stood in line we watched prepared food sitting under the heat lamps for long periods of time. That should have been our first sign but we hung in there. When the food was finally ordered and we sat down to eat we just stared at one another in disbelief. The fries were shriveled, limp, greasy and cold. As for the chili dogs....they were cold and dried out from sitting under the lamp. The onion rings were somewhat hot but the oil dripped off them and puddled in the container. One had to look for the chili since it was smothered with mustard and very little was on the hotdog. The thought of getting back in line to complain and get new stuff was not even considered given the fact that all the other orders around us looked the same. They had cooked everything way ahead of what was ordered and apparently the oil had to be old to create such greasy results. We came back to the hotel and told the staff we encountered to make sure to not endorse eating there. It was a waste of time and money. My husband kept apologizing for the lousy, disgusting meal. If it was possible to give an establishment a zero we would. What a difference 30 years make.......too bad it was not what it used to be.

We loved this place! It was neat to stand on line and see how quickly the employees worked to take and fulfill orders and call out the famous “What’ll ya have?” The chili dogs were amazing! The fries and onion rings were really good too. The shakes are thick but delicious. It was a great stop for lunch

Hamburgers are nothing special. Chili dogs are better at a convenience store. The place was packed. Line was crazy long. One and done. I prefer Wendys.

Went to the Varsity by Georgia Tech. The food was good and just got the number 1. Interesting with chili and mustard. The onion rings were incredible though. Nice place

We loved eating lunch at The Varsity. We had classics like cheeseburger, chili dogs, fries. I loved the orange shake. Like an orange creamsicle. My son had a chocolate shake and loved it as well. The place was busy but we did not wait long and there’s plenty of seating. Easy to reach via MARTA or car. Right next to Georgia Tech!
