Great neighborhood haunt. Food is usually pretty good, some days it seems off. I guess it depends who is in the kitchen that day. Impossible vegan taco was good once, second time we went it tasted like they got the breakfast flavored sausage shipped by mistake and used it in the taco anyway, they were not good the second time. The veggie sweet potato bowl was very good, just swap the creme for their sunflower crema and it’s vegan. At least they have 2 vegan options! House Marg’s are also very good! Everyone else always seems to like their food and service is great!! One request to the establishment, please Stop putting cheese on the guacamole!! ?
The Food:The tacos were delicious. I ordered the fried chicken tacos with black beans and rice as my side. The chicken maintained its crunch until I got home, the grilled corn was sweet and the chili mayo was the perfect compliment to it all. The black beans and rice were seasoned perfectly. I also ordered the Queso Royal which if I had a straw, I could drink it, it was that good.The Service:Though I ordered pick up, the service left a lot to be desired. The host was curt and borderline rude with my friend and I. As soon as we approached the stand he immediately dismissed us without asking our names or if we ordered takeout online or had placed our name on the list to be seated. He wanted to see a party because a table had become available, which was understandable. However, there is a way to communicate that and not be dismissive. He then located the party, sat them and FORGOT that he had shooed us away. The indicator was he casually stood at the podium sipping his drink without acknowledging us. We had to initiate contact again in order to receive service. Once we engaged him again, he took our names and informed another person that we had arrived to pick up our order.I'll have to revisit before I can chalk this up as a one off occurrence.
First time visiting this restaurant. The best fried chicken tacos I ever had in my life. Taste ? flavor portion and price point ?3 for like 17.00 and change with rice ? and black beans. Soft shell tacos ? with fried chicken and sweet corn ? delicious ?
Jeanille (not sure if spelling is correct) was absolutely awesome when I was having issues with my delivery order. She called me back twice to give me updates when I was having issues with Uber. It made the whole situation easier to deal with and anyone should be thrilled to have her on their team!!
Im not a fan of Mexican or southwestern food as it is but I was out celebrating my wife's birthday with family. The restaurant itself is fine. Parking is a little cramped but it's free. I order the strip steak with its fixings. I was none too pleased with it. The steak was really good but the sides were terrible. Everything was flavorless and the green beans tasted like grease. They did give us tons of chips. I typically hate cantina chips but theirs had flavor so they were ok. I ate a lot of those and thankfully because my main course was abysmal. Took over 20 mins for our main courses to come out and i was done in under 10 mins because all i ate was the steak. The portion wasn't that impressive for $25.. but then again had it been I'd have probably been angrier. As another family member tried the green beans they agreed with me. Ultimately i spent time with family so that's the upside. I wasted $45 dollars on that meal. The meal was $25 plus the drink, gratuity because we had 8 family members and i tipped another $5 begrudgingly because it wasn't the server's fault that my meal was terrible. But i did make sure she knew it was respectfully. The chips had more flavor than my sides. I forgot to take a picture of my main course.
Came in on a week night with a date. We were able to walk there. The staff was great. They definitely pushed refills, ordering. We sat at the bar, our bartender was kind enough to give us a couple small samples of things. I got two different tacos, my date the fajitas, which as always came on a sizzling plate. Considering the tacos are about $5 they are not very big. The ingredients are fresh and the proteins were tasty.They spin a big wheel every hour for free giveaways if your token matches the spin. We won a gift card. They are part of the 5 restaurant group so there are a lot more to try!
Always fun to sit around drinking an extra Margarita... just while waiting for the hourly spin for free stuff! oh, and the food is good too.. chicken quesadilla was great. Can't wait for rules to change so they can bring back the 'Salsa Bar'...
We were disappointed with El Taco. It used to be good but I won’t be returning. I ordered the quesadilla and my boyfriend ordered tacos. My boyfriend’s tacos arrived and one of the tacos was incorrect. My quesadilla did not arrive. When we told the waiter he said he would get my quesadilla and fix the taco. He arrived 5 minutes later with the fixed taco but no quesadilla. My quesadilla arrived 20 minutes after my boyfriend’s food and it tasted bad and the mixed salad served alongside it was inedible. There were more staff than guests in El Taco and service was still slow.
Build your own nachos was epic! Great food.
This place used to serve a Mexican pizza that was incredible. Not sure why they took it off the menu. It was literally the best thing they had. Everything else is just ok.
