Had an amazing experience. The chef is SO nice and engaging. Really goes out of his way to make sure everyone is enjoying themselves. The Sushi was AWESOME and FRESH!!! The sauces and accompaniments were well balanced. In the Age Mono course the skin on the fish was crispy even though it was in a broth. So why didn’t I give it 5 stars. I took away one star for overall value. No matter how much I enjoy and experience I try to be somewhat objective in my review. I’ve done several tasting courses, below and above this price point. This was my first Omasake experience, so I don’t have another Omasake experience to compare it to as far a course number and prices, just other tasting experiences. Though the food and service was amazing and I personally didn’t mind paying the price; In my opinion, based on the size and number of courses, I think the price was a little disproportionate. With the 20% tip that’s added( which I don’t mind at all), the total is about $265-$270 per person. There were 10 courses which were small to medium( in the tasting course world ). For the price I would like at least 2 other courses-they could be small. Or drop the price just a little. ? But again Amazing Experience, No Regrets!!

We went here for my birthday ? it was a very exclusive experience! One of my top sushi places in the states. The restaurant is not fancy but authentic. The seafood quality is brilliant! And the chef is super knowledgeable and friendly. I’m both happy and sad for him that they will relocate to midtown. For me, Sushi Hayakawa is even better than Shiro in Seattle.

You will never want sushi anywhere else again, except maybe Japan. It's the most fantastic experience and the food is beyond incredible. It was my first omakase dining experience and it seemed intimidating before we got there but he made us feel very comfortable and explained everything as we went along from how to pick up the pieces to which order to eat the parts of a dish. This is an intimate sushi experience with truly delicious ingredients and a talented chef. Something to treat yourself to and to not miss!

Absolutely the best Omakase experience we have had in Atlanta. Itamae Hayakawa is delightful & an amazing artist. The sushi was top notch! His interaction with us was most entertaining! A perfect anniversary dinner!!!

The best restaurant I ever been to. His food makes people happy and it was truely a life changing experience.

I heard this place was on another level, and I had to try it. Hayakawa sources some of the highest quality products I have ever tasted. The setting of the restaurant is quaint and very personable, reminded me of eating with the family. Hayakawa takes great pride in his work and is an excellent host. Service was top notch. Sake selection was excellent. Every bite, every mouthful had me on a roller coaster and in heaven. Thank you Haya san it was unforgettable and I will be coming back. It will be hard to have sushi anywhere else now.

When going to a place like Sushi Hayakawa, you go in with a set of expectations. This place is not for everyone, but for the type of person that seeks a unique and unforgettable omakase experience, this is probably the best place in Atlanta. The level of service and care that the staff take to ensure the comfort of patrons was the highest that I have ever experienced post-COVID. Extreme care was taken to ensure that guests are distanced, bathrooms are assigned to each party to reduce contamination risk.Mr. Hayakawa has a transparent plastic panel separating himself from the guests, however he wears a microphone connected to speakers to ensure that guests can hear him and communicate with him.Eating at Sushi Hayakawa is not just about the food, which by the way is the best sushi you can get in Atlanta, it is about the experience and the stories that you will remember that night for many years to come.

The seasonal omakase was extraordinary last night, even compared to past experiences here. Nestled in an unsophisticated Buford Hwy shopping plaza, Hayakawa has set the standard for Japanese cuisine in Atlanta for decades with super-premium sushi in a small and intimate setting that has expanded with their COVID protocol, which limits seatings to just fourteen guests a night. While we found the pacing to be a bit brisk—dinner lasted a little over an hour, with some courses arriving just before the previous departed—it matched chef's engaging, lively, personal style. Truly, one of Atlanta's very special gems.
