In ATL for weekend with Wife and teen daughter. We were looking for something that was not chain place we can eat back home and was budget friendly. Found Metro Cafe to be a couple blocks from our hotel. We grabbed dinner here one evening and lunch another day. Our servers both times were really personable and attentive. Layout was kind of cool with bar and dance area downstairs and seating upstairs. They had a huge screen looping a video of parties, and foods and we kept seeing some yummy cakes! Food was your basic cafe/pub stuff and hit the spot both on the taste buds and the wallet! The highlight of the menu may very well be their cakes though! I had a slice of strawberry shortcake after dinner and it was FANTASTIC!
Great aesthetic. Second floor dinning with privacy windows/blinds. I could easily people watch from my porch upstairs in the dinning area. Bathroom was simple, but nice. Food proportions are large, which supplements the price. Tax included in meal made calculations easy.Had the lasagna with a salad, and a gyro with fries. Ended up taking home the salad and a few fries because we were so stuffed!Staff weren't particularly smiley. Our wait staff didn't appear like they wanted to be at work.
Staying in a Condo near the World Congress Center, I looked for a traditional diner within walking distance. The Metro Cafe Diner is not exactly a traditional diner, but it has traditional diner fare. I recommend the Metro Plate if you're looking for a hearty traditional breakfast.
Get dessert and skip dinner. The cake slices were huge, enough for three people. I ordered carrot cake, which was excellent; frosting nice and creamy. One daughter got apple crumb cheesecake - scrumptious, and one had her go-to Oreo cake. For dinner we had chicken Alfredo and salmon, both of which were OK, but not worth the price. Nothing really appealed to me, so I got a salad. It consisted of white lettuce, shredded cheese, a few thick cucumber slices, three mushy tomato wedges, and chicken. Chik-Fil-A serves a better salad for half the price. Maybe the atmosphere is good at midnight, but at 7:30 on a Friday night it was blah.
Breakfast was good, tasty and freshly made. Really lovely lady serving went the extra mile and engaged in conversation too. I really like this place but there's two things which lose you one star. It's a bit dingey inside. All the wooden 'venetian' shutters are locked closed. I'd prefer to have daylight for breakfast, not dark room with blue and red neon lighting. And you only offer Smuckers breakfast syrup, and not maple syrup. I find it much too sweet and it doesn't feel as healthy.
The restaurant offers breakfast, lunch and dinner with plenty of lights and room. The breakfast was pretty tasty and the staff is very friendly. The cakes are Irresistible in so many flavors
I stumbled across this place my first time in Atlanta walking from the parking garage to my hotel. We grabbed food there on one of our first nights there. The service was great. The staff were efficient and the food came out quickly. Everything was good. Several nights later we went back to enjoy the bar. It’s was karaoke night and we had a blast. The drinks were great and the bartender was awesome. At the end of the night I lost my cell phone. I began to panic as my ID was in the case and I was set to fly out just several hours later. The manager Mario was PHENOMENAL and when I had finally given up hope of finding it he rounded the corner with it in his hands. I recommend stopping in the metro diner if you’re ever in Atlanta!
My breakfast was just OK. I'm not sure I would eat there again. My server was very nice and we had good conversation. I was disappointed with the sliced ham. It was more suited for a sandwich. The coffee was good though. 4 stars go to the server
Overall, the food and service were good. My biggest issue with this restaurant is the value for your money. There is no doubt that the prices are high because of the location, not because that’s what those dishes should cost. Combine that with additional service charges, before tip and tax mean that you’re going to be overpaying for sure. I would have expected more for the money.
Had to wait 45 minutes for a table. Friendly service, great food. Very kind to my two young grandkids with meals they enjoyed. Half roast chicken special was excellent. Bloody mary and mimosas just $3.00!!!
