It’s been a minute since I’ve been back in Taiwan, and this sent me straight back to the night markets that are famous there. Had the 886 sandwich and fries with a pineapple fruit tea. Love the spice on the chicken which was delicious. I think I found my new comfort food place!
Read about this place from New York Times so I went there and gave it a try. In my opinion it's a bit odd where the place is located, out there inside a light industrial/office park SE of the spaghetti junction along with other similar 'central kitchen' type of establishments. So I may say this is not a traditional restaurant that one would have imagine, since from the outside this resemble more like a commercial kitchen with a window for take out orders and some outdoor seatings thrown in next to the parking. But set that aside, the menu is quite representational as one expected for Taiwanese style fried chicken/snack food along with a small selection of Boba tea/coffee etc. Highly recommended for something different as far as food experience but not recommended if one expecting a traditional restaurant/dining atmosphere. It's more like a food truck with a permanent address but if food is what you want, this place will not disappoint. I do hope over time they would expand to include food trucks & larger dedicated restaurant facility.
Best Taiwanese food in Doraville! Many of the prep/ghost kitchens in this strip are good, but this is by far the best! I drive 30 minutes out of my way whenever I'm craving this!My favorite dish on the menu is the ABC sandwich, and includes a big, juicy chicken breast fried in a flavorful gluten-free coating, cheese, sweet pickles, apple-cabbage slaw and a mango habeñero sauce. It's an incredible mix between the classic American fried chicken sandwich and Taiwanese flavors. It's more than enough for 1 person and just not enough for 2 people.I've also tried the exotic fries, tossed in parmesan, sesame flakes, seaweed and another spice I can't place. They go so well with the spicy green dipping sauce! I also like the Tiger's Blood Boba, a classic boba milk tea with brown sugar concentrate.Service is very fast. There's a small outdoor seating area outside, but we usually call ahead and order take-out. Shout-out to Anson for another amazing lunch today.
A little out-of-the-way spot with tasty options! We had iced coffees with the 886 chicken sandwich, Jolly Rancher chicken sandwich & fries. These sandwiches were huge! And the fries portion was pretty big too. Great for big appetites or be prepared to take home your leftovers like we did. Service was pretty fast and friendly. No indoor seating, but it was pleasant in the shade. Not many tables, so you may want to plan for takeaway instead.
A little confusing to see a place called "Java Saga" get recommended in both an Atlanta Eats and Eater article, but we were in the mood for a good chicken sandwich so we made the journey out. Some great sounding stuff on the menu, but we went with 2 ABC sandwiches... and they were a mess of a good time. Very tasty. Don't let the picture fool you, the sandwich is quite large which is a plus.We are looking forward to coming back to try more of the menu
Surprised by the Mother’s Day special treat- super-sized chicken patties with bursting flavors, served with sweet conversations and the spring breeze. Or is it summer already? Yum.
I had such high expectations from good reviews l. I ordered two chicken sandwiches and exotic fries. Very big portion with mediocre taste sandwiches. First, friend chicken separated with its breading. Their supposedly spicy sandwich was not spicy at all… overall just meh experience prob not coming back.
This spot is another one in the Prep "restaurant accelerator" area, where we've already tried a couple of joints and came away intrigued. In these pandemonium times, places like this are like a Krog street market but outdoors, so you can enjoy yourself with more peace of mind. The wifey is a big fan and supporter of all things Taiwanese, and I happen to love a fried chicken sandwich, that after she found this spot during her search, we decided to see if they were legit. We went a weekday lunch hour to take advantage of the outdoor seating and warm sun during these breezy months. Their storefront doesn't have much for seating, but if you walk around you'll find more agreeable outdoor seating.I got the ABC sandwich and wifey got another one. They were both $10 a pop just for the burger, the fries were an additional $4. The fried chicken piece was generously portioned, and it had slaw and their special sauce. The fries were a mix of fries and tots, randomly assorted. The seasoning consisted of bonito and some other herbs. The best part was the green sauce that came with it. Pretty darn good. The fried chicken sandwich was excellent, crispy, well seasoned, and enjoyable. Same for the fries. Wife agreed with the assessment. One demerit is the price. $14 for a sandwich and fries, not including a drink. Well over double what chains with respectable chicken sandwiches charge, but it was not doubly as good. Maybe 1.5 times as good.Aside from the high prices, the meal was very enjoyable and worth a treat once in a while.
Alvin & Co. knocked this place out of the park. Got the ABC 2.0. Every flavor you could ask for in one of the best chicken sandwiches you’ll find in ATL. Definitely need a nap after this hole in the wall gem filled me up. Check out their writeups in AJC for more backstory — just adds to the taste. Best of Taiwanese chicken you’ll find here.
Java Saga is so reliably good, and it is truly the best exceptional chicken sandwich. Tonight's dinner consisted of the 886 with octane sauce, "exotic" fries, and pineapple fruit tea. Such a lovely and delectable go-to chicken joint institution in Atlanta. After eating here, it's impossible to not compare all other chicken sandwich joints (and fries AND fruit tea) to Java Saga's. And if they're not busy at the moment, your pup may be fortunate enough to be offered a puppuccino (definitely my canine friend's favorite place to visit).By the way, my dog isn't food-motivated, but the fries are so good here that she literally sniffs the ground in hopes of finding fallen fries each time we visit. Takeaway: do not sleep on the fries!
