My husband and I ate here twice on our vacation here because it was sooo delicious!!! Welcoming cozy environment and affordable delicious food. It’s easy to please anyone who comes here because despite their small menu they have a good range of traditional breakfast for picky eaters and adventurous flavors like the Santa fe and Mediterranean egg scrambles! (Also pictured is the raspberry cream cheese French toast and the gingerbread waffle with lemon curd yum!)
Java Jive makes it worth living in Midtown Atlanta. This simple mom and pop breakfast place has simple dishes prepared fresh. The biscuits are so fluffy you can sleep on them. The coffee is freshly brewed and better than most diners. Always try the specials if you visit on the weekends. The staff is friendly and always happy to help with any questions. Please be aware that this is a cash only place. There is an ATM in store if you need cash ($1.75 surcharge). Parking is back of the store.. it's crowded on weekend mornings so plan accordingly.
Cash-only, Quiet breakfast spot with a family- friendly environment. I recommend the pancakes or biscuits. I often get the Greek omelette with breakfast potatoes or grits; however, I highly recommend listening for the specials because you could be in for a treat. There’s an ATM located onsite.
We decided to visit this place because it was right across from our hotel and we like to support non-chain restaurants. We're visiting Atlanta from Michigan and had been really enjoying the quality of service we had been receiving at every restaurant we've been to until we came here. When we entered the place, we were greeted by this girl who seemed as if she didn't know how to speak to us or if she particularly wanted to. Then we were directed to wait outside until a spot opened. We were a group of 2.That seemed fine until a group of 3 walked in behind us and where all sat immediately. Surprised by this, we went inside and mentioned it, we were sat by a nice older gentleman. But once we saw another group sat immediately knowing that there was a couple outside waiting and seeing their were plenty of open spots we decided to leave. It seemed very clear they were playing favorites. We have very little tolerance for discrimination and did not want to stick around to experience more of it.The place also smelled bad, and the food choice was minimal. We've been to a number of restaurants in Alanta now and this was hands down the worst experience we've had.
Java Jive is a treasured gem of ATL. Consistent, old time breakfast. The service is great, food is so so good, and the pies are next level! Cannot recommend enough for a reliable breakfast spot. Great take out and don’t forget, cash only! If needing, a reliable desert spot do not sleep on the pies !!
In from New Orleans for a concert staying at Hotel Clermont & so pleased to find this diner right across the street. It’s like stepping into another time! The decor is precious, the food is delicious (always grateful for vegetarian options!), & the staff very accommodating. A gem!
Good place with diner ambiance. Cash only however.
This is my most favorite date place. My husband and I go Gere at least once a month. The ambiance is awesome and the food is good as well. But the little cyos of coffee will keep you coming back for more. Oh and the Gingerbread waffle is highly recommended!
Came here on 2.12.22 Definitely a good experience here. Service was so fast and they give you plenty of food.. It is a cash only establishment...... So know before you go. They do have an ATM if you dont have cash.... Chris was really nice. This is a swanky place.. Old days vibe.. Nice vibe.. Real quiet and peaceful.... Check this place out.. Get the pancakes
We stayed at the hotel across the street and decided to try this place. Very welcoming waiter with good communication about the menu and their covid protocols which I liked. The buttermilk pancakes were amazing!! The orange juice was on point!!I got the Santa Fe scramble with cheese grits and potatoes. The scramble was really good and seasoned great. Didn't try the potatoes but im sure they were delicious. Now the biscuit was cute shaped in a heart; however it fell below my expectations of a good biscuit since thats what they are known for.Make sure you have cash or use the atm by the bathroom.
