Worst Jamaican food. The oxtail was tough and had no flavor. The rice was sofy sofy and taste like it don’t have no salt. The cabbage was nasty.
Absolutely Loved It!! Have you ever bought a meal with the intention of, eating some now and saving some for later? This was one of those times for me. Some times the food is so good that you can't stop eating until its all gone. Again, this was one of this times for me. I search for good Jamaican food since I moved here, and I must say that this is one of the better ones that I've found. I had the curry chicken with cabbage, no peas and rice (skipping carbs), and now that its all gone, I halfway wish I'd gotten the peas/w rice because I can imagine how good it would taste. I also love the fast, very friendly service. I look forward to returning. Thank you
My first time here so I just ordered a small oxtails. The service was quick. I came around three on a Wednesday. The oxtails were soft and not hard. The rice and peas were good and my plaintains were a little hard, but no reason I wouldn't come back. I will only be coming here for my Jamaican meals if they keep serving such good food!
Nasty, absolutely disgusting. Everything tasted like salt. The oxtail and the cabbage were seasoned with salt only I’m convinced. And to be honest the food doesn’t seem like authentic Jamaican. $20 wasted.
The food is disgusting. Literally. No Jamaican flavor at all. And the rice tasted like pure butter with only 2 or 3 beans. She did not add gravy to it like she said. The curry goat was disgusting. The whole plate was nasty and I paid $17 for it. I wish I had went to my usual Jamaican place. I regret going here and wasting money. Never coming back
I am not sure what happened to this place. I have not been here in a couple of years but I remembered the Oxtails being decent. I got them yesterday for the first time in a while and I could not even finish them. My man got food from another popular Caribbean restaurant down the street and I refused. I just knew I was going to get some good oxtails from Island Takeaway. I was sorely mistaken. There was no flavor at all. I even had extra gravy and it did not help. Even the rice & peas was lacking compared to his! I don’t know if the owners changed or the cooks changed but they need to go back to the original recipe. I had to eat an entirely different meal at home. I was highly disappointed. Gas gone, money gone, food gone! This is not the economy to be wasteful.
We got the curry goat roti and oxtails. The roti was really good but the oxtails were just alright. The oxtails don’t have the flavor like typical Jamaican oxtails.
Their vegan food is good. They have vegan chicken, vegan fish, and vegan beef all in either brown stew or curry. The rice is vegan obviously, as well as the plantain and roti skin. This place is consistent, and i recommend.
The food was terrible skin still on the bottom of the salmon and the cabbage is disgusting we waited 45 mins for some macaroni that had hard cheese on the top bones in my pasta this place is very customer service but for us it’s get a F
This tasted nothing like jamaican food the rice & peas was red kidney beans and all I tasted was butter no thyme,seasoning or all spice the cabbage had no flavor either sorry won't be coming back
