The location is just in the corner of the block and seems like just a small shop, but inside is much nicer and has a good vibe. The food, service, and the pricing is exceptional.The locals down here know it by the name ‘this is it’ instead of world famous.Definitely a must try if you’re in town and looking for some American food and some fusion food along with good beer!We tried the double stack with American cheese and the pork buns both were quite nice!
Used to be a favorite dive to hit up for affordable food and drinks with a good atmosphere. Recently it's really soured on me. My girlfriend got food poisoning from the general tsaos chicken. New menu changes have dramatic price increases 30-40% on menu staple items and $1 credit card charge regardless of amount spent.
Popped in after a gig at the 40 watt club. Staff were really attentive and service was quick. Ordered a delicious burger and fries and the Havana Good Time cocktail was amazing ?
Great atmosphere! Their food is a bit pricy as far as "bar snacks" go, but The World Famous is comfortable and welcoming. And I love the pride flag they have hanging in their window!
World Famous is a very unique spot in downtown Athens. It's a very fun "hole-in-the-wall" that you'd absolutely take people who are in town for a game or perusing the area for the first time to. It has elevated bar food (which was 8/10), it has great drinks and beer, it's extremely quirky-- it's Athens. However, I would recommend WF only being a part of your dinner plans if you have other options in your back-pocket. While being small is a slice of the charm, the line can quickly overflow out the door and seating can be filled just as fast. It's an unconventional joint that you definitely want to try if it's not too busy.
looks like every major chain restaurant you find in a galaxy far far away in a not so distant future mixed up with a bucket of fried chicken and acrylic paints with some bartenders working behind the scenes and maybe a cook responsible for hot food and tarot card deck cutting ceremonies on the front porch. probably owned by the same people that own boars head. got a tattoo in the line waiting for the bathroom. got married there.
Pretty good restaurant, tucked off it’s kind of hard to find, but once you find it the food and the ambiance is on point. They also have variety of mixed drinks that I didn’t get to try due to me trying to recoup from previous night’s festivities, although I did have beer from World Famous, they have a variety of beer including local breweries in the Atlanta area, overall this is a pretty cool little place would definitely come back.
Fantastic drinks, relaxed and funky atmosphere. The bartenders and patrons are friendly and welcoming. The Rosemary Beach cocktail is delicious!
I wasn't satisfied with the amount of food for the price I paid. I've gone to World Famous many times past and always gotten either the burger or chicken waffle club as my dish. This usually comes with a side of fries but they've recently chosen to replace that with a small bag of chips. You can still get fries but they're $5 extra. $17 total for a small chicken club and fries is not a good value by any means. Service and drinks were good however.
I love the pork buns and the fries are amazing! But mostly, the staff is friendly and very hard working. The customer service is top notch.
