We have been excited to try this place out and we finally had a chance to. We checked out the menu online before hand, where it advertised $5 per person for unlimited games. We got there and it was actually $7 per person, which is really pricy. For two people, we paid $30 for game passes, a beer, and a coffee. There was also some trivia going on, and the noise traveled throughout the whole room making it difficult to hear across the table while playing our expensive games. It also smelled not great and the service was not the friendliest. Cool concept, but too expensive for the experience we ended up with.
Do you love board games?? If so, this is the place for you! So many to choose from and draft on the tap! It's really good if you're not sure about purchasing a game and you want to try it out with friends first! The atmosphere is so laid back! Just all around a good time!
Me and my girlfriend had a great time unwinding with a game of chess. Chess is actually free to play so they were nice enough to refund our $7 game passes. I highly recommend the monte cristo sandwich, it is sweet and delicious. The atmosphere and overall aesthetic is unique and special, so be sure to take a load off and partake in the wide selection of games when visiting Athens. If you already live in Athens and haven’t been here then what the heck are you doing.
The food was good and the Cubano was so yummy, but the best thing about this place is that you can experience that nostalgic family game night or that quiet, thoughtful game of chess with a friend. Whether you like board games or not, you can't help but be drawn into the warmth that socializing face to face over a shared game in a cozy, friendly atmosphere brings. Highly recommend! We will be back.
Waiter, food and overall experience was great. My only drawback was that it was a bit on the expensive side for my tastes. But if that doesnt bother you then go for it! I personally used the free complementary games and that worked out great for our group, I really feel like the environment is great for having a fun time.
First time at The Rook & Pawn... Didn't get to spend nearly enough time there, but we did enjoy the coffee and atmosphere greatly. The selection of games was vast. The set up is really conducive to game play and conversation. Can't wait to go back again. 10 out of 10, highly recommend
I'm seriously coming back to this location hopefully with a large party and I'm going to be staying all day. It's open till 10 and you can pick out a game of your choosing. $7 per person all day and they've got food, coffee and drinks and even mixed drinks for the evening it's great!
Good cocktails, good staff. Wish they had an updated schedule of events. Itd be sick to get some mtg drafts going.
