Met some friends there for a late lunch and I got the sliced brisket plate. The brisket was not sliced, the guy had to get it out of a bowl of sauce with tongs and it had little flavor. Beans and potato salad were average but the overall impression was that of a college bar that attempts to serve barbecue.

How's this for popularity? It's the kind of thing that happens when your college football team is ranked No. 1 in the country. Saucehouse BBQ in Athens, Georgia, which sells a variety of BBQ sauces and specializes in beef brisket, pulled pork, chopped chicken and St. Louis-style spare ribs, also offers "tailgate combos" for football games at nearby Sanford Stadium. But tailgaters must order before noon Wednesday before a Saturday game with a 25-person minimum for pickup and a 65-person minimum for delivery. Founded in 2013 by University of Georgia graduate Christopher Belk, Saucehouse BBQ is located at 830 West Broad Street, east of Milledge Avenue, is open from 11 to 9 Wednesday through Sunday and also features a fun bar with outside seating and a beer garden that is very popular with students. Among Belk's creations are such BBQ sauces as Western North Carolina Ketchup, mustard sauce, pork sauce and sweet molasses, ribs smoked fresh daily with hickory, Athens hash with brisket and potato hash and Brunswick stew, a thick and hearty mixture of pulled pork, chicken, vegetables, seasonings, tomato sauce and BBQ sauce. Such a stew typically contains squirrel. Not in this case, thank goodness. My wife enjoyed a half-pound of pulled pork with cole slaw and potato salad. I couldn't resist a full rack of St. Louis-style ribs smothered in Western North Carolina Ketchup with French fries and cole slaw. For dessert, we shared portions of peach cobbler, banana pudding and bread pudding.

Shorted me on that fresh mac.

. We have been going as a family for years but this will be our last time going to saucehouse. The food is good and the restaurant is set up for family or group dining with picnic tables but it is way overpriced now. 2 lbs of pulled pork is $30 , it would be $20 anywhere else and a quart of potato salad is $20. That’s outrageous. I didn’t bother to ask for buns or rolls because they would have cost 3 times what a store would charge. Sorry, but we’ll be buying our BBQ elsewhere!!! Dissatisfied, LLB

Good, no-frills food at a no-frills restaurant. Good service. Indoor and outdoor dining. Good barbecue.

My favorite patio in Athens to have a drink! Dog friendly, customer service is great, too.

Mixed drink prices were a bit steep , however the service was excellent. Nice covered area outside to enjoy the evening. A gentleman named Elliott was super friendly and made sure we were enjoying ourselves. We had a nice talk with him and he talked highly of the establishment as well. He seemed to interact with others in the same positive way. That alone made it worth the stop at The Saucehouse.

Really friendly bartenders and looking forward to hitting The Bar more often!

Excellent service, excellent food!! Love to the ambience of this place! Highly recommend! You have to try the bread pudding!!

Best place ever I love customer service
