Came in for lunch on a Saturday. It was pretty busy. Sat at the bar. Ordered a New York strip which came with a salad and baked potato. Ordered blue cheese dressing for my salad on the side without me specifically asking it that way. Dressing was watery. Streak cooked correctly. Potato with sour cream fine. Food came fairly quickly with appropriate time for me to eat my salad before the steak arrived. Bartender busy but extremely efficient.

Food was OK - gumbo was good. Pretty pricey for what you get. Service was slow and not very attentive, especially considering that the place was nearly empty.

Good food and service. Cloth napkins (woo hoo) and lots of table options. Restaurant is definitely family oriented verses a young hangout. Great selection of seating option from high backed booths to high tops in the bar. Very good staff. Lunches specials were $10-15. My meatloaf and collards was excellent along with my wife’s shrimp wrap and some great fries. Parking could be challenging.

Hands down one of the best places I've ever eaten at! I was impressed with every aspect. Our server even remembered drink orders, correctly, and brought them out without even being asked. I was in town for work but this would be a regular place for me if I lived nearby. And the food was just as amazing as the service!

I have dined at Hilltop several times previously throughout the years and found the restaurant to be what I would consider average. However, my review today is not about the food. Instead, it is about the treatment we received upon our arrival for lunch. In the past the hostesses have told me that we could call ahead and reserve a table. So today I called ahead to reserve a table. The time of my phone call was 11:15am and it’s Friday. The hostess told me that it might be busy by the time of my arrival and that she would certainly have my name written down. We arrived by 11:30am. As we walked into the restaurant, several other patrons came in as well and were greeted right away by name and seated immediately. I waited for the hostess (a mature lady) to acknowledge me after seating all of them. I gave her my name and said I had called ahead. She responded that yes she was aware I had called and that she was not happy with the other hostess that had spoken to me and took my name. She said that they were very busy and didn’t have anything available. I said, ok, can you tell me how long our wait will be? She wouldn’t answer my question but instead said they were full, had two large groups and only 3 servers, AND, if I saw any empty tables they were reserved. In other words, she wasn’t willing to serve us (2 adults and 1 baby). I asked again about the wait time and she said, I am very sorry but…. And that was that! It was very obvious that we were not going to be seated at any time. I have never been treated this way in a restaurant. I do know that this restaurant has a huge following of regular patrons that eat here daily, with many of whom are well established in the community and have probably been frequenting this establishment for years. Still, I was stunned that she was turning us away with no plan at all to seat us at anytime. I understand also that restaurants are currently experiencing a severe shortage of workers. However, this is no excuse for the treatment we received today. I would suggest taping a note on your door that you’re only serving your regular guests. Absolutely ridiculous! I’m happy to say that I along with my money was more than welcomed at another well known restaurant in town.

This place was great. Creative dishes and so very tasty. The downsides were that almost half the seafood menu was unavailable and they forgot to bring our appetizers before the entree. They were nice enough to comp the appetizers but taking home something fried and reheating is never the same thing.

These were the blandest shrimp and grits I have ever eaten. They were under seasoned and not very cheesy; there was no bacon or ham or gravy. It came with unsalted butter and garlic to pour over it. I’ve had better shrimp and grits at chain restaurants. Also the crème brûlée was warm on top and cold at the bottom. The waiter was nice and attentive though.

Went here for a family dinner. It was quite busy so recommend a reservation for a weekend night. We sat in the back area and they had a lovely fire.Started with chicken tenders and fried green tomatoes. They were very tasty and good for sharing.I had the ribeye steak with a baked potato. Well seasoned. Cooked to correct temperature. Good marbling. Baked potato came with sour cream...I would have liked some bacon, cheese and/or chives but it was still good.Finished with the creme brulee and chocolate brownie. Both were good flavor and nice portions.

Came in on 02-05-2022 about 1530 hours. The bartender was extremely busy But she was pulling it off.She left at 4 PM and a new bartender took over.Between 4 PM and until Danielle showed up, that that bartender was absolutely useless. We all have "off days".I get it, but,Good looks only get you so far.I felt like a afterthought. Then Danielle showed up with her groovy green hair.Danielle walked in and and serviced every customer at the bar that needed it and introduced herself to non familiar faces like myself.Danielle should be wearing a Cape!.If I was still in the restaurant business she would be working for me today.I usually Tip very generously. 30% +Between 4 PM and Danielle's appearance, I was really having my doubts. When I cashed out I made a point to do it with Danielle.I think she was happy. As far as the food;I started out with the crawfish gumbo.EXCELLENT!. 5☆Then I had the crab cake appetizer. 3 1/2☆Then I had the salmon entree with rice pilaf and green beans. 4☆Very well written menu with very nice options. The wine menu was definitely 5 ☆As far as the atmosphere, done very well..Very clean and uncomfortable environment.Definitely look forward to coming back next time I'm in town.Peace ?✌

This is a really a good place for a meal. Got excellent shrimp and grits for brunch. My daughter had eggs Wellington and my son in law had eggs Benedict. They both enjoyed their meals. The bloody Mary's are also tasty. Service was excellent.
