Food for the Soul is open for lunch Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, and is well worth a visit. The restaurant specializes in home cooked foods ranging from fried pork chops, baked chicken, and salmon croquettes to collards, butterbeans, and devilled eggs. Selections vary daily, but the standards like fried chicken and macaroni and cheese are always there. Diners can eat inside the restaurant or take meals to go. Plate choices include meat and vegetable combos or the buffet option. Parking is beside the restaurant on a side street, but there are a couple of handicapped spots directly in front.

If could could give zero stars I would. The service was Horrible! The pork chops I ordered were raw in the middle, I asked to speak with the manager and she was extremely dismissive along with the staff. I had seen good reviews and wanted to drop by while I was in town and was completely dissatisfied from the service to the food. I would not recommend anyone eating from this establishment. The beans tasted as if they came straight from a can, the collards were dreadful and the “cornbread” tasted like jiffy. Being out of town I had to google an ER to go to due to extreme stomach pains just to find out I got food poisoning. I contacted the restaurant directly and the managers I spoke with were terrible! Don’t waste your money here

My auntie brought me some food from this place and it gave my food poisoning ? the greens didn’t taste seasoned and she said the people were rude to her, I wouldn’t recommend my stomach is still hurting

This place has the best food. I got the Thick ,tender, juicy porks ,cabbage, deviled eggs & all of it was delicious. They serve food like my country self grew up eating.

The fried okra was the best I have ever had.

Whenever I am in Athens, I make it a stop at Food for the Soul. Their fried chicken and mac and cheese is the best I have ever had. I hope they publish a cook book

THE FOOD IS GREAT THE SERVICE IS COMMENDABLE THE ONLY NEGATIVE IS PARKING.....KEEP ON SERVING UP THE GOODS!!

My wife and I were in Athens at lunch time and looking for a nice place to eat. We were driving around when she saw this little establishment on a corner. Be advised that parking is only available on a side street (perhaps a handicap spot or 2 in front). We went in and got a couple of vegetable plates with tea. It's self-service buffet. The food was good, the prices reasonable, and the people both friendly and helpful.

Excellent food here. Good southern food! Would diffently come back here.

I love you guys food pleaseeeeeeeeee open 7 days a week ?????????❤️
