Wow, what an absolute letdown! This place was unfortunately terrible.The greens were canned (Glory brand)The Mac n cheese was overly seasoned and super greasy.The bbq was boiled and had zero flavor, and was mushy. The sauces were also very underwhelming.The staff was friendly, and the sweet tea was good, outside of that everything else was horrible.Will not be back
Stopped here for lunch, based upon the reviews here on TA. We are on a 6 week road trip and were passing through Athens. The food was fantastic. Not one bite my wife and I had was disappointing. I had the rib plate, with yams and Spinach Supreme. All 3 items were delicious. My wife got the chicken plate with yams and I believe) turnip greens. All 3 were fantastic. For desert we had the peach cobbler and blackberry cobbler... perfection. But I need to comment on the service. The young lady that took our orders and brought our food outside was super helpful... explaining everything, and answering our questions. She could not have been more pleasant (even to a couple of older Yankees!), and really is an asset to the business. Great food, great service, great value. We hope we pass this way again... this is where we will eat.
Good to see BBQ joint that doesn’t cover their food with sauce to hide flavorless smoked meat. Had the sampler plate everything had great flavor. I didn’t particularly like the links though but who makes their own anyway.
Excellent local BBQ place! Everything we had was really good and we would definitely stop by if in the area again. The banana pudding was your typical southern style with just enough wafers and bananas, definitely recommend it as well!
I've known the owner almost 20 years. He was my hair stylist. He told me he focused on healthy hair. My hair went from damaged to dynamic. During that journey.He would bring his clients samples of what was to be the next chapter in his life.His ribs were so delicious you didn't need sauce! Or teeth for those who didn't have any. I have not been in a while but his customer service an joke's kept his loyal customers coming back. BJ put his all into his food and service.
Dawg Gone BBQ is a great place to eat. I would highly recommend to my family and friends. I had the delicious rib dinner with a side order of banana pudding. It was omg! Thank you for your amazing service.
First time ordering to go from here. There’s not a lot of good southern bbq places anymore out there. This place was delicious!! From the sauce to the sides everything was great!! And that sweet tea amazing!!! Im southern born and raised. And I know amazing sweet tea and bbq when I experience it. This is my place for sweet tea and bbq now. I also love the variety of sauces to choose from.
I tried this place for the first time today and the food is INCREDIBLE! Best BBQ in Athens by far. I highly recommend trying it!
I am always on the "BBQ Quest" and have eaten at BBQ establishments from the northeast, to California to Puerto Rico. Dawg Gone Good has the best pulled pork and sides I have had anywhere. The sides are home-made and the pulled pork is juicy and delicious.
I was driving through Athens today on my way back to the ATL. Years ago, I had ribs from this place!I called and ordered 2 slabs of Baby’s!They did not disappoint! These ribs are right up there in my top 5!Family owned! Wonderful Family!They were all so nice and accommodating!Do yourself a favor!Get BBQ from this place!Take care of this family because they care of us!
