I had high hopes for true “southern” food but was highly disappointed. I ordered green tomatoes which came out with some type sauce and goat cheese (which would’ve been ok, if it was listed on the menu, that these things would be on top) I sent them back and asked for some at least without the goat cheese, she came back and said it was the last order and they could scrape the cheese off and re plate it, against my better judgment I was like sure that’s fine. My husband had Turkey wings with rice and black eye peas and cabbage (the rice was hard and the peas were.not seasoned) my daughter had meatloaf (which was smothered in the brown gravy) with Mac and Cheese and mixed greens, the Mac was terrible. I also ordered fried chicken with Mac and greens and the chicken although fried to perfection, lacked seasoning. I wanted to give a last ditch effort and place an order for oxtails, rice and cabbage and was yet again disappointed. Rice hard, oxtails not seasoned. So needless to say we will not return. Also, those tomatoes that were supposed to be re plated, showed up as we were finished eating and I told her I no longer wanted them. We did tip although the food just didn’t do it for us. They got a 2 star because they seem like nice people.
They know me well a glass of Cabernet is always nearby. The food and the sides are amazing. The service is great and wonderful. We will be back often.
This place has some tasty items on the menu for dinner. Our favorites were the Catfish, Mac n cheese, and the buttery soft cornbread. My daughters and I don't even care for cornbread, we usually opt for rolls wherever we go for Southern cooking. We experienced a homely feel, as if it was our auntie's house. We'd come again if in the area.
Outstanding all around! We sat in the outside dining area and it was perfect. Service was excellent and our waiter was so friendly. We ordered drinks and appetizers to start. The fried okra and spinach and Artichoke dip is a must. I ordered the Grilled Shrimp with mashed potatoes and Mac and cheese. Everything was delicious and cooked to perfection! They were unfortunately out of steak and grouper but that wasn't a big deal.If you're in the area, be sure to try this place. You won't be disappointed!
Just found L.Marie’s and omg have I been missing out. Went there 5/21 with my wife and grandson. It was one of the best meals I have ever eaten. The service was superb and when leaving I was able to give a shout out to the cooks. I had she crab soup, fried green tomatoes, grouper and shrimp, cabbage easily the best I have ever eaten , black eyes peas, squash casserole and finally peach cobbler. I would highly recommend L.Marie’s and can’t wait to go back.
Love this place! Great food and even a greater atmosphere; especially when KAMP is in town the 2nd Saturday of each month. Thank goodness we now have the option not to travel downtown Atlanta to City Winery. Love everything local.
I was very disappointed in the flavor of the food. I expected more, way more. I was looking forward to experiencing authentic Southern cuisine. We both ordered the fried chicken breast, it was dry and very bland. The mac and cheese had an unusual texture but tasted ok. The squash casserole was very flavorful. The best item on the menu was the fried okra, it was very tasty. The peach cobbler was a big disappointment, there was no crust on the top and was very thick, clammy, and sweet. It was presented as if it was scooped out of a dish as opposed to being made to order. The black-eyed peas and rice was interesting, it tasted like warmed up canned peas just placed on top of white rice, and the cabbage had no flavor.. The servers were very polite and professional.
First time going here and I'll be back! I got the grilled seafood platter, and it was some of the best seafood I've ever had. The crab cake wasn't all breading like a lot of other places. The sangria was amazing and that was the best spinach artichoke dip I've ever had.
A homie of mine and I went here completely off whim. No idea who they were, no background or information as to what to expect. The immediate moment of stepping in I gained a sense of awe at seeing it was a candle lit spot. I’d rarely ever been to one, in actuality, don’t believe I ever have. But for sure, I was astounded with the atmosphere, the design was subtle and well kept. Gentle earthy colors here and there…Then the food! The food was beyond anything I could expect, delicious, cooked to my tastes, and oh! I was a deer in headlights when reading there was a note to ask about the weekly cheesecake flavor. We did, having enjoyed our meal and opted on getting dessert. I tell you, when my friend and I asked and was told there was red velvet cheesecake. I could tell the waitress knew she had us!We ordered and lord…It was so delicious we drove all the way to our friends job to brag in his face how delicious it was. We plan on going another day sometime next week, along with more friends, because it was so amazing.PS: If any of the employees see this. Freaking amazing service, I was the black man in Camo with a Atlanta Braves hat and bronze glasses. You’re going to see more of me. I’m sorry!
Delicious! Great food, great service from Brandi. My order was to go. Enjoyed a glass of Prosecco while I waited for my Turkey wings and rice with blackeye peas and mashed sweet potatoes. Yum...
