Took my husband as a treat. He enjoyed his Jambalaya dish. The explosion of flavors in his palate were amazing. Each bite had meat and flavor in it. I'm wimpy so I had their fried fish and shrimp. That was a great piece of white fish. The batter was crisply fried and not greasy. It has a New Orleans atmosphere with its decor and background music. The server was attentive and took the time to discuss the nuances of the dishes.
We discovered this delightful place during our visit to the area toward the end of April, this year. That time I ordered the Jambalaya and she ordered the shrimp & andouille cheddar grits. Neither of us was disappointed, in fact, all was marvelous. The portions were good and the flavorings were quite appropriate. We were not inclined to have dessert so we ordered some beignets to take with us to eat later - delicious! This time (June) there were five of us and all were quite satisfied. We placed our orders with Bret and he was most pleasant, helpful and cheerful. One ordered the lunch Fried Green Tomato BLT with cup of shrimp & andouille gumbo. Two others, both, ordered shrimp & andouille cheddar grits. The fourth one ordered, from the "Classics by the Cup", jambalaya and shrimp & andouille gumbo. The last one ordered from the "Lunch Pick 2 Combo", Crisp romaine and the chicken & andouille file gumbo. Our orders were prepared in a reasonable amount of time and the food was delicious. I would say that all were well satisfied with the quality and presentation. Since this was lunch, the group was convinced to order take-out gumbo to eat for supper later on. So that says the the ones that had the cups of gumbo were eager to get a larger portion for more enjoyment. The restaurant was decorated by a local artist and is stunning. The reproduction of the New Orleans ambience is well done in all aspects. The decorated goblets were unique - see photos. The trip to the restrooms was also a unique experience - see photos.
My family and I had Sunday lunch here today. The food was pretty good. This prices were ok. The drink selection could be better seeing as they did not have many premium liquor choices at the time. I had the Catfish and Grits while my boyfriend enjoyed the Catfish Poeboy. The portion size was crazy. The pieces of fish were very big more than enough as I personally ad left overs. I got the wine gravy on the side and I did not care for it at all. I would recommend this place should you be in the Winter Park / Orlando area and happens to want a nice New Orleans type vibe.
I ordered the Fried Green Tomato BLT from the lunch menu and there was no bacon on the sandwich. The lettuce was skimpy. The fried green tomatoes were delicious so I ate those alone.
We went with our daughter and her husband to Tibby’s upon their recommendation. This is our first time trying Cajun food. We started out with the appetizers: Onion stack, Empanadas and Debris Spring rolls. All were very good. Entrees were Shrimp Creole, Jambalaya and the Blackened Chicken Pasta. My wife and I had the Jambalaya and the chicken dish. The Jambalaya was OK but got better the next day eating the leftovers. The chicken and pasta dish was OK but lacked flavor. The interior was well decorated in the New Orleans décor. My wife and I will probably not return to Tibby’s. It is just not our thing for this type of food.
Awesome atmosphere considering the location. Great service/food. Excellent Happy Hour! Very authentic food. We will be back with friends!!
We went to Tibby’s for a family get together. The ambiance is truly like being in New Orleans. From the decor to the tasty food. It’s a gem we found in the heart of Central Florida. We had several appetizers such as the shrimp and alligator cheesecake which was delicious and unique, fried green tomatoes and these amazing crawfish and gumbo empanadas. Main courses I liked were crawfish etoufee and Rita’s Chicken. Just outstanding. To top it off was the vans foster’s cheesecake and beignets. To die for. The staff was friendly and the Manager named G came over to make sure we had everything we needed and content. We certainly were. I highly recommend coming here to have a taste of New Orleans in Florida. We will definitely be back!
We stopped in for lunch yesterday, server came by, but never returned for 15 minutes. After waiting for our food orders for more than 30 minutes, server stopped by to tell us they forgot to turn on the waffle machine to explain delay, we left. Sad state of the restaurant industry these days - higher prices, understaffed, unmotivated ( apparently ).
Servers were too busy talking to each other to be bothered actually serving. My brother in law ordered an item and it was never brought to the table. My husband ordered Shrimp & Andouille cheddar grits for $23 and what he got looked more like soup with a couple of pieces of shrimp and sausage thrown in.
Super fantastic service from walking in the door to departure. Restrooms spotless and distanced from the actual interior of the restaurant. Start with the gator bites, so tender!Got the breaded pork chop with beans and rice. Its deep fried so not the pan cooked like I thought so it was a little dry but tasty enough. The beer, comes in this bucket! Holy moly! A little pricey but was there for 2.5hrs and had service whenever I started to turn my head to look. Try it plenty of tasty treats to enjoy.
