Really good margaritas. Fantastic tacos, but they're not super full so I would recommend ordering 3 if you're going for a full meal.4 stars because we ordered beers after the margaritas and the server forgot about them.
Originally we were going to go to Bodega for tacos but after reading the reviews of their restaurant we read this place was preferred over Bodega and it did not disappoint. We were there for happy hour which made the margs 1/2 price at $5. Unfortunately the day we were there the tacos were not discounted but still they were about $4-$5 depending on the taco. The guacamole was only $4 and it was massive. They do charge for extra chips and they don't even give you enough chips to start. Overall, a great find and so happy we came here.
We were there for Sunfest yesterday, ordered 3 margaritas as there were 3 of us. The bartender said are could make a skinny margarita so we were onboard without asking what it was that made it skinny. We weren't watching them being made however after the first sip all of us were so taken aback because it was like drinking straight lemon juice. I asked what she used that made them a skinny margarita and she said there was no special recipe or anything she just used lime juice and tequila. ?? Nothing more. They were close to $40 because they added a 'large group tip' to the bill automatically that was over $5. There were 3 of us. The drinks were WAY too sour to drink so we decided to add a shot of Grand Marnier to try to sweeten it up since the bartenders said that they didn't have any Splenda or sugar alternatives. The bartender literally short poured from the bottle into our cups and it was not even remotely close to a 1-1.5 Oz standard shot and if you didn't already guess it was another $30++ and they added the large group tip fee again. I asked exactly what is considered a large group because most regular households are only 3 or 4 people for the most part. She advised they only did that for Sunfest. Regardless, it's incredibly deceptive and I'm guessing most people didn't see it as we didn't even realize it until we saw the bill for the short pours and I looked at my gf's receipt for the margaritas. Bottom line is this, if the drinks were half way decent I might recommend but between the drinks and deceptive charges can't do it.
Food was great when I came in yesterday , good drinks too. Only issue was my server ..Carley I believe is her name. She was extremely rude. We received water and, then she came back a few moments later and said we’ll do you want anything besides water. I was so confused because she never introduced herself or told me she was my server. No greeting or anything just her rude comment. I asked her was she our server because she never said she was . She said well I’m telling you now. I was really taken aback I just stopped talking and my friend took over. I’ll most likely be back but she needs to work on her people skills for sure. Very strange personality for this type of job.
Rivales is a fun, eclectic Mexican restaurant. We started with Chips n Guacamole & Esquites, which was freshly decobbed corn made their own way. Really good!! They have a big varieties of tacos and other Mexican dishes. I had Shrimp, Chorizo and Lengua Tacos and they were Awesome!! They had a nice selection of beers and tequilas too!! This is a stop whenever in the area. Enjoy!!!
Good and staff are amazing, only issue was with pick up for online order, there’s no parking! Not really a store problem but still was a hassle
Great service! went twice, once for eats and once for drinks. Had the burrito as well as several tacos. All were very fresh and tasty. Burrito similar to Chipotle and tacos were a variety of fish, shrimp, beef tongue and chorizo recommend trying them all on a Tuesday for 2 bucks. Went back on a Wed for margaritas and corona and sat outside. 2 very attentive waitresses make this the place it is!

Absolutely wonderful experience! I live downtown and it was my first visit here. Carli was our sever and she couldn't have been more pleasant. Everyone on staff was a delight, both hostess and the food runner checked on us and were so great to talk to. 10/10 service and they were very quick as well! The food was great. Elote was on point and we tried 6 different tacos, my favorite was the Al Pastor with all the fixins.My only suggestion would be try dimming the lights a little bit and I think it would make an even lovelier atmosphere :)So happy we went by and will definitely be returning.
