First, the staff was friendly and very accommodating. Our kids were picky and they didn't give us a hard time about leaving off stuff! By far, the nachos and chorizo burger were the best items. The nachos had a BBQ brisket that was heavenly! We tried the brisket, steak and short rib tacos. The challenge I had is some of the accompaniments on the tacos didn't seem to blend well with the meats, but they were worth trying. Really glad we tried it and appreciated the friendliness of the staff. Inside is small, but there is a patio out back.
Great food and service. So glad a friend told me about this place. Read recently that several chefs in the PB area had named Cholo Soy as their favorite "go-to" restaurant when they're not working. I understand why. Simple unpretentious food served in a wonderful garden setting.Service attentive. Nothing but good things to say about this fabulous new discovery.
Very tasty food, a great combination of countries I would say. Most of the dishes feels like mild Spicy. But worth the little pain if you dont eat Spicy at all like me.
Had a good time having tacos on Taco Tuesday with my son. We had the pork belly, chanco, short ribs and brisket tacos along with the rock shrimp ceviche. The flavors were great and tasted delicious. It was the perfect balance of heat, sweetness and acid. I don’t recall seeing or taste the pickled papaya. The glass bottles for the soda and water was a nice classic touch.
Came in with no expectations and left full and satisfied. L.A. whole-in-the-wall feel, street parking. Outside is a whole vibeI ordered a brisket taco, chancho taco & steak taco. Chancho taco had so much flavor, my favorite hands down.Whole staff was awesome ?? . Really pulled the experience together.Def coming back with friends
Good place. I think a little over hyped. I got the brisket, pork belly, octopus and chorizo, spicy chicken tacos, ceviche and tortillas. The pork belly and the spicy chicken tacos were amazing! The ceviche wasn’t that good. The brisket taco was too fatty. The tortillas are very salty. The place is small with not a lot of inside seating for the hot days. The staff is very friendly and quick. The price is good. We would come back. We should have tried the fish.
Ordered take out of all different tacos. Beef, chicken, brisket, fish and all were very good. You can taste the freshness and true flavors in each bite
After having read the review, we expected a simple place with amazing food. Im reality, it was a simple with food that was at best average. The biggest problem is the lack of flexibility and choices, you can’t add sauces or vegetables or spices to the dishes. The tacos came somewhat cold and were quite dry. A lot of meat, but not much of anything else. The biggest disappointment was the steak taco, it was so dry and the meat was overcooked. Anyway, we were throughly disappointed.
Oooohhh-eemmmm-geeeee! Everything about this place deserves five stars +++The groovy atmosphere is accompanied by amazing service and scrumptious food. I came in ready to munch and got the ceviche (worth the $18 with lots of big ol’ plump shrimpies!), choclo con queso, a pork belly taco and una cerveza. This west coast girl is going back for seconds before going, going back back to Cali Cali :)
the tacos here are just amazing! simple as that. they're expensive, sure, but you get a lot for the money.
