Since this was our first Sunday brunch at Grillsmith, we made an online reservation, listing food allergies. Upon our arrival we were seated and the hostess reminded Kaylee, the server, of the food allergy from the reservation. Our orders were timely, fresh and actually looked like the pictures from the online menu. Furthermore, they were absolutely delicious.
I have come here for over 2 years and have always been satisfied until today, We waited exactly 1 hour. I decided to get brunch and have waffle and sausage. The sausage looked like a piece of charcoal! It was dried, cold and burned to the brim.I honestly don't know how this plate manage to get pass quality control, Management needs too seriously step up. Prices are high as it is and to be serve a plate like this is truly unacceptable.
We were road-tripping down 75 and had had our fill of fast food. Using this app, we discovered Grillsmith in Wesley Chapel and decided to check it out. I am so glad we did! Our server, Jenny, and her partner, Bryan, were amazing from the start. Super friendly, and prompt with drink refills and food deliveries to our table. We started with the Pub Pretzel, and then I had the Grillsmith Burger while my hubby had the Shrimp and Crab Burger. I can’t say enough about the tomato and bacon jam that comes on the Grillsmith burger. Amazing! Then we finished by splitting a slice of the best key lime pie these native Floridians have ever tasted. We will definitely be back!
I have intentionally waited to add a review because I reached out to the corporate email/website contact us page first. I thought they would want to hear what went wrong with our experience but it's been a week and a half and no one seems to care. Grillsmith has been one of our favorite restaurants since they opened. This last experience will definitely be the last time that we will consider the Wesley Chapel location. Rather than boring you with all of the details, here are the lowlights of the day. * The Spicy Thai Shrimp appetizer was inedible. It tasted like the shells were still on. * The server wanted a fist bump for me not ordering carbs with my meal... it probably isn't that big of a deal but it was just awkward on top of an already awkward series of interactions with him. * Our water glasses remained empty for most of the meal. * The appetizer was on the bill even though it was returned. He apologized and took my credit card to pay the balance due. Something positive... but then... * When he returned with my credit card and the revised bill, he made fun of my last name and then made a stupid joke about it because I didn't react the first time I guess. I just assumed that he may have mistakenly called me by the wrong name. But nope. He was just rude. I held my tongue and my wife told him that it wasn't OK to say what he said. He acted shocked. That's not OK? I was just being funny. It wasn't. This was just terrible. I chose not to speak to a manager that day because I was very angry. I thought it would be better to allow a cooler head to prevail. Thinking back on the experience - it is still so shocking. Perhaps even more shocking is that no one at Grillsmith seems to care about our poor experience.
We finished our second leg to Marco Island and needed food. A quick net search brought up Grillsmith a mile from our hotel. Their list had pics... mouthwatering pics! LOL And the dishes in those pics were genuine. :-) They looked like what would come to a table, not some fake studio creation. We headed there with expectations of a fine meal and I can tell you we were not disappointed. Busy place... the hostess offered a 30-40 minute wait that made us think... we'll just sit at the bar... first come/fist served of course. A glance to the bar showed all seats taken. :-( Just as my frown began to emerge she then told us that the high-tops in the bar area were also first come. Bee line for an open table... seated in less than a minute :-) Our server brought water almost instantly, and he was personable right from the start. I could tell this man LIKES his job, which always says a lot about any establishment. Now on to the food... we shared the ahi tuna app.... you folks know me and my yummy sounds LOL.... well Carolyn and I BOTH were making them. LOL Superb sear on the tuna, beautifully seasoned and their playing of this delicious app is unconventional and absolutely stunning. Entrees were equally stunning. I had the Argentinian Red Shrimp Coconut Curry. This may very well have been the best curry I have ever had. Beautifully balanced yet bursting with flavor. Yes, there was a slight glitch with my dish, but after bringing it to our servers attention, Samantha, the restaurant's manager came over to explain. The issue was handled respectfully and professionally and no hard feelings remained. In a nutshell, I'm well aware that stuff happens, and I was VERY impressed by how Samantha handled the situation. Carolyn had gilled chicken with a Caprese salad. Top notch cook on the chicken and the tomatoes were as fresh as can be. For dessert we shared the Key Lime Pie, and let me tell you... if you're a fan of this pie... Make sure you save room because more yummy noises were made! :-) All in all, this is the kind of restaurant would be happy to frequent on a weekly basis if they weren't 1200 miles from home! Thank you, Grillsmith, for a memorable dining experience! We will see you next year for sure!
This was our first time here and we liked the decor, the service and the food. Others have said it is inconsistent so we must have hit the right chef. The Mother's Day special steak and au gratin potatoes were delicious. Cooked just right. My husband had the salmon salad and it was good too. Waiter, Mark, was efficient and personable.
Came for brunch today and ordered a mimosa bucket. It came with orange juice that was nasty and had pulp in it and peach nectar which was very thick. It was put in small cups so when you would pour it in your champagne glass it would spill onto the table because it's not a glass built for pouring. The champagne was also kind of warm. Like they obviously don't leave the bottles in a fridge and are left room temperature. The bucket was a quarter filled with ice so it wasn't chilling the champagne properly. The chicken and waffles was poor. The waffle was super thin and pathetic. It came with a small piece of chicken and an overcooked egg. I thought it was going to have a runny yolk because the menu said it was poached but as you can see in the picture, the yolk was cooked through. I also just realized it was supposed to come with the parmesan tater tots and it did not come with them wow.My fiance got the Smith scramble that says it comes with texas toast. I don't know what they think texas toast is but it was literally just tiny piece of white bread cut in half as you can see in the picture. I could get a better egg breakfast at ihop which my fiance joked about how we should have gone there. At the end of my meal, I was chewing and felt something hard that I couldn't chew. I spit it out and it was a piece of plastic...I told the waiter and the manager at least came over and comped my meal, but even without that happening with the plastic, overall the food wasn't great at all, they forgot my side item which I didn't realize while there, and the mimosa bucket was a joke. Go somewhere else for a nice brunch. We should have gone to noble crust. They never disappoint. Never again. Felt like I wasted my money today unfortunately.
Have eaten here a few times since our initial review. We want to like the place, but food is totally inconsistent, great one time mediocre the next. At this point I would recommend hitting up happy hour for drinks and specials while sitting outside.
Came here on a Friday evening around 8 pm and it was pretty busy. The wait time for 2 was about 45 minutes. So we decided to sit at the bar. First we ordered a Margherita and a blonde ale. I did not get a drinks menu so was not sure what type of specialty drink they made until I pulled I decided to pull it yp on my phone. Then we ordered a Napa valley salad and filet tip egg rolls. Then I ordered a chicken gorgozola flat bread and a Mohave. The bar tender was extremely friendly and managed to run a full bar by himself. I will come back and try an entree next time.
We were not happy with the staff from the telephone conversation to make a reservation to the long wait for our waitress to bring a check. We did not have a quiet dinner atmosphere seated next to a party of 8 with three young babies! The staff is very inefficient. Our dinner was half eaten when the waitress asked if we wanted desert. Could not get butter! The food was tasty with lots of flavor. Good portion size. Chef did a good job.
