This used to be a great place to eat. Yesterday I ordered the french onion soup. The cheese was not melted over the top. It was inside in a small ball??? Not much cheese and I had three small pieces of onion in a lukewarm broth. I guess it was hot at one time as cheese was a little ball? Terrible!! This is their $6.99 soup. I went to swipe a fry from my friend and it drooped. I asked for a to go container for soup and complained of soup temperature and the uncooked fries, which they offered to fix but I was over it and took the containers. We ended up paying over $30 plus tip for cold soup, side salad - med-well patty melt (burnt on outside and raw inside) and fries that needed to be fried. This place used to have good food. What happened??
I have only been here, second time. My wife has been here a few times before. Overall, the beef brisket was delicious. I think my wife enjoyed more than I did. She got a egg and works sandwich. Very good too.The service is very well organized.Helpful and friendly. At the end, everything was great. Thank you for asking.
I have been to this TooJays many times in the past. For breakfast, I love the western skillet. For lunch, I nearly always get a tuna sandwich. As today is rainy with the start of a tropical storm, and it was freezing cold in there, I ordered the turkey dinner with green beans. Bad choice. The food was lukewarm and I actually sent it back to be heated. The green beans were shriveled up and nearly inedible. The gravy was so salty. The server was great and she asked how the meal was, and I shared a bit about the negative experiences. She asked if I wanted to speak with the manager, and reluctantly, I agreed. She left, then came back to say that Amy the manager offered me a free dessert -- but no apologies about the food, no offer to bring me something else, or to take the subpar meal off the bill.Disappointing.The free chocolate layered cake she brought was quite tasty, but by that time, I didn't have much of an appetite. So, if I come back, I'll go back to tuna sandwiches.Sigh.
Love the atmosphere. Good service, great food.
Great sandwiches and breakfast
Our first visit came shortly after arriving in Vero Beach just before closing. We only wanted a light snack. I had the "famous" potato knish" and don't know why it's famous. My wife's matzo ball soup was also disappointing. After three requests, the wait person brought a single slice of rye bread and that was the best food of the small meal. When I tipped $5 on our $20 bill, the waitress complained loudly to the whole place. Another waitress came over and apologized. We left with a half dozen rugalach cookies for the hotel room. They, too, merited only a 2 or 3. Geez, guys, just get a recipe off the Internet Two days later, exhausted from playing tourist all day, we walked over for a quick supper. My brisket sandwich was really good and I wondered how they managed to slice the meat paper thin. On rye, of course. Decent fries, too. My wife's chicken cutlet dinner was also good but she could not finish it. But we did share a takeout slice of genuine cheesecake that I rated high.
This restaurant is very busy on the weekends. But is well worth the wait. The service is very good and the food is excellent with a varied menu from which it can be hard to make only one selection
My family and I ate at TooJays yesterday and the food was cold. While that is an issue, the 3 of us all received the gift that keeps on giving last night. We all ate different meals and it all impacted us the same. So when you go ask for the Free Soft Serve special.
I went to too jays with my family today - St. Patriciks Day. First thing we noticed was that the hot entrees were not hot - barely luke warm. . The potato known was cool and dry. My corned beef and cabbage was also lukewarm, the carrots were cold. The hala bread used for the roast beef sandwich was dried out - the roast beef was also dry. Today was not our first visit to too jays but you can be sure it will be our last. Two hours after leaving , I ended up with severe stomach cramps, etc.
I have been wanting to try this place out for a while and they did not disappoint!! Food was great, service was also top notch, the atmosphere was very good as well. We got dessert from the bakery on the way out and we were all happy with that too. We will return to try more of the menus that looked so good.
