Good food, great service!

Really good service and food. Great atmosphere. you get a lot of food for the money. I got a half rack of ribs and omg, the portion was amazing. We have been looking for a good BBq and found it. All of the staff was great. Linda was our server and was on top of everything. we walked in at 7:20pm and they closed at 9 and never once felt rushed. we have been to so many places where you walk in at that time and they are mad at you. Or when you don't order alcohol. Not here, they were absolutely amazing. we will definitely be back.

Fantastic , friendly service and great food.

Great prices, great people, and local! The best place to get a hearty, delicious meal on the island. The decor is like the old west, with big laquered tables and lots of wood, so it's different and casual. Secret: Wednesday is fried chicken night- and the best of all. The food is fast, the staff is great, and everything is awesome! You can easily pull up in back and order from the pick up window, or eat inside. The staff is mostly twenty-something guys, which is refreshing to see around here. There are a ton of cars parked every night, and I suggest you don't try to drive through the sandy back adjacent lot unless you have four wheel drive. I've seen several people get stuck in that property. Usually there's a local guy to pull you out though. The ribs and the BBQ chicken are wonderful, as is the Gold Rush Brew (beer), but honestly, I love the vegetarian burger or the corn bread the best! This place is sort of the local "diner" of Venice that everyone knows about. They even have a donation table for food for homeless people out on the porch and donate food to the community, so that makes them winners in my book.

Great service, great food, great price. Key Lime pie was awesome!! Waiter recommended (when asked) “the Mother Lode.” 2 lbs of bbq to share with hubby. Added an extra cornbread. Enough to eat with a little room for dessert and 2 beers each. Price tag = $40

Very good reasonably priced dinners. Great service and all around enjoyable dinner. The ribs and shrimp are very good and the salmon was excellent.

We arrived around 4:00 pm on a Wednesday afternoon and restaurant was moderately busy. We have lived in Venice for 3 years and have never tried Gold Rush, so wasn't sure what to expect. We were greeted by Linda and were seated at a booth right away. As we looked around, the place seemed a bit dirty. Linda brought us plates and silverware and as she was placing the plates down she picked a piece of stuck food off one of the plates. My husband and I looked at each other in disbelief. We just moved the plate aside. That was probably our sign to leave, but we were starving. Ordered what is advertised as brisket with two sides - we both had cucumber salad, husband has mashed and I had mac and cheese. Really, really bad. The cucumber salad was like chunks of cucumber soaking in bad Italian dressing. The mac and cheese was made with ziti and had no flavor. Even the cornbread was lousy. As far as the brisket...nope...not brisket that I have ever had where it is slice thin and slow roasted with a nice rub. This was just a shredded lump of meat with some sauce thrown on top. I just don't get the reviews. Obviously nobody has had true BBQ. On a bright note, after the scraping of the dish, Linda was very attentive and kept my husband's beers coming. Needless to say, we will not be back.

The BBQ here is awesome. We got pulled pork, ribs and chicken wings. All delicious. And beers are only $3! The sides were great, too. We will definitely eat here whenever we visit Venice.

If you are tired of seafood, head to Gold Rush for some good smoked ribs, pulled pork and traditional sides. In addition to the traditional sauces, they offer a sauce sweetened with Stevia. The only disappointment for me is the cornbread, which is sweet. Cornbread doesn't need any sugar in my opinion. Friendly staff, quick service, but you may have a wait for a table in season.

For the past 10 years this was our go to place for ribs. In that time we have enjoyed great food and accepted the modest price increases. Last night changed everything. The price of their marquis baby back ribs have gone up substantially while the size has gone down 50%. I accept the price increase but nobody should walk away hungry after eating a full slab of ribs…..no kidding. The sides are great as usual, but nobody goes there for cole slaw or green beans. I appreciate the need to control costs, but reducing product size or quality is a sure way to wreck the business.
