Fantastic "old Florida" BBQ shack on the Myakka River. The food was excellent. I had the Beef Brisket on a bun. It says "spicy" on the menu but it was incredibly mild, not spicy at all. I like a good spicy BBQ sauce but the Smokey brisket stood on it's own without the need for a spicy sauce. Very good. The atmosphere here is incredible. Visit quickly because the County is due to tear this down and turn it into another atrocity like the soul less concrete thing they built at Siesta Beach. Old Florida is going to disappear as they "pave paradise and put up a parking lot."
The place had an awesome atmosphere! People were friendly and the staff was excellent! Food was delicious. The river was up and we didn’t see any alligators, but definitely worth the trip!
Pulled pork was excellent!
Pure woodsy Floridian atmosphere. To get there you travel up a terrible dirt road under a canopy of trees, which is awesome, and at first terrifying, but the road opens up to a bunch of small cabins, the restaurant, a brackish river with a boat tour, a performing stage, trees and raccoons.Yup, raccoons. The food is ridiculously good and well prepared. The Smokey Joe nachos are the best on Earth, there is also a Taco version of this that is crazy good, get a side of their homemade coleslaw and add a bit to every other bite. Everything pulled there is insane, plus, the secluded, rustic back in time vibe makes everything even better.Go there. NOW!
Paid $35 in advance to event bright for 3 bands. The first band Nitro Bozeman played 1.5 hours was amazing Soulful Blues. We left before the second band finished. The Picnic table in the back corner is impossible to sit b/c the bench is kids size. The food is pretty good. Three different kinds of hot sauce. Scenic Old FL lunch on the river. Fried green tomatoes very crispy. Homemade Potato Chips Excellent. They won a rib cook off in 2015. They don’t have whole chicken but have wings and apparently an excellent fried catfish according to the MC. Indoor and outdoor seating.
Super place. Original Florida like it used to be. Great bar food, nothing for vegans though. Still five stars for the live music, location, service, boat rentals, kayak rentals, etc.
I loved this place. Definitely an "old Florida" vibe. Good and drinks were very good. Our server Julia was sweet as can be. Great blues band playing. Looking for a back woods, cool place to eat and hang out ... this is the place. First time here, definitely not the last. ?
Absolutely love this gem!!! The pulled pork nachos are a must!! If you want relaxing inside service the waitresses are always pleasant, along with the rest of the staff. If you want that fun atmosphere with live music, boat tours it’s the place to be! This is by far one of our favorite places in Venice!
The area was very pretty. There was plenty of seating indoors & outside the day we went. We ordered the chicken wings which were very good. My husband ordered the 2 meat BBQ the brisket & pulled pork which was mediocre and barely warm. I ordered the shrimp & fish seafood platter with mac & cheese& coleslaw. The homemade chips looked good but were lukewarm & soggy, fish & shrimp were lukewarm too! The server never brought out the coleslaw and when he asked how our meal was I told him what I just mentioned in the review. He did offer a free dessert but we declined. This place is great for the scenery but wasn’t impressed with the food. We’ll go again for a beer & wings but I wouldn’t order anything else!
Food was good! Saw a huge alligator! My only complaint was I wanted the cowboy burger ordered the 1/2 lb burger by accident. You would think they would ask which burger(Lost a few bucks more on the better burger)Band was great! Nice time!Recommend this place!
