Yet again we were delighted with our food and service at San Marco. We were there for a birthday lunch. We shared eggplant tower, meatball and artichoke hearts with all making us hungry for more. Entrees included grilled swordfish cooked perfectly with fresh lemon pasta, Tagliatelle Al Bolognese which tasted like the pasta had been made hours before, Chicken parmigiana was moist, coated with perfect amount of breading and my husband wanted to lick the plate after eating the Pappardelle Boscaiola. We also enjoyed the half price wine from 11AM to 12. As always the service was attentive and courteous without pressure. The cannoli rival Mikes or Modern in the north end of Boston!
We dropped in to San Marco a little before 3:00 after finding our intended destination closed for the mid-afternoon. Lucky us! Our server called our attention to the Savor Sarasota promotional menu: three course lunch for $20. My wife chose the Eggplant (and mozzarella) Tower appetizer, and I opted for Arancini. Both dishes were generous servings for a promotional menu, and delicious. For her entree, my wife ordered Flounder Piccata, I opted for Osso Buco Ravioli (for an upcharge); both dishes were delivered fresh and hot from the kitchen. The fish was perfectly prepared, and my wife was especially happy with the fish and the quality of the sides. My ravioli, in a mushroom Demi-glace, were delicious and, again, a more than generous portion. For dessert, we both opted for Limoncello Crème Brulee, which kind of hit all of our checkboxes for dessert; it exceeded our high expectations. Service was prompt, polite and superb; business was light, and our server was able to take more time with recommendations and background. We also noted that the servers take obvious pride in the establishment and spoke highly of the management; always a good sign, in our experience. Next time we're in downtown Venice for lunch or dinner, San Marco is at the top of our list to consider.
Absolutely phenomenal. If you're in Venice and you want Italian food, this is your place. Incredible and friendly waitstaff, the butternut squash ravioli in sage butter sauce was to die for, and the price was approachable!
Wow. I didn’t look at the menu, Owner Jeff told me the Cioppino was the best on menu and it was fantastic. Crab, scallops, shrimp, mussels, clams, and the best garlic bread. Had wine, sat outside, couldn’t be better. Jeff is the man!!
I can only assume that we visited on an off evening. We were expecting a fine quality meal with polished service. Missed on both.Service was very unprofessional, almost comical. Servers were dress in shorts and had few skills in presentation.Wine list was suitable for the area and prices are fair.Food was fair. The Chilean Sea Bass has never seen that country's shores. The Veal chop was absolutely bland.I'm usually more that forgiving on all my reviews but a $200 meal deserves to favorable and presented in a professional manner.
I live in PA, but my parents live in Venice. The owner helped me purchase a gift certificate over the phone for my father's 85th birthday and then allowed my parents to change their reservations when the weather became stormy. My parents ate outside and thoroughly enjoyed their seafood meals. To top off a great dinner, the restaurant surprised my dad with a birthday dessert, which neither my mom nor I had requested. It was such a thoughtful gesture. I'm looking forward to eating there when I visit Venice again.
Best kept secret in Venice Florida. The food and the service was fantastic!! I highly recommend this place. Here’s a few pics for your enjoyment!!
Ordered calamari that tasted like rubber bands Ordered ravioli that was cold Ordered lasagna that was tepid Ordered sea base special tasted like old fish Ordered bolognese under a different title—eat a little and wouldn’t take it home Spinach salad Is 95%! Spinach—had to search for the other ingredients Caesar salad had a creamy dressing and only the anchovies I ordered gave it taste
I find I must disagree with some of the previous reviews which expressed dissatisfaction with the restaurant. We were warmly welcomed by the owner and his wife. Our server was Gwen who was our favorite server previously at another restaurant. While the menu does not reflect what is online, there were plenty of good dishes to choose from. We were told a new menu is coming out shortly, so perhaps that is the cause of the confusion. My chicken scallopine was delicious. Each of my companions loved their choices as well. Their sauce is made fresh every day. The prices for lunch were quite reasonable, so I did not expect a huge plate of food. All in all, we are planning another lunch date there in the near future.
We went there after reviewing the menu and prices, there were several of us including young adults. The prices were fine dining, the quality of the food, not even close We are a one and done here
