What a great little spot. I'm a huge bbq fan and the food is absolutely delish. Service was very attentive and friendly. Sassica aka Jessica (so I was told) did a really excellent job. Beer was very cold which is always a plus. I had ribs and my man got a brisket plate. Nothing short of amazing. Very reasonably priced. I need to know how they make their Mac n cheese. It was even good cold for leftovers. Highly recommend.
Stopped in for our first time to eat with Gold Rush BBQ the other day when we came off the beach. Food, and service was very good and fast. Staff was friendly and everyone helps take care of the customers. Sauces were pretty good but I am picky since I had my own BBQ restaurant and we had 10 gourmet sauces. If in the are stop in and give them a try.
First time eating there and boy have I missed out. Their food is bomb. Best BBQ I've tasted in DECADES. Fantastic staff and value. It will be my goto from now on. I won't even mind the 85 miles drive. Worth it! And thank you to my server and Frank (manager) I can't rave enough, be back this weekend with family.
This is an excellent food experience before hitting up the Venice Theater. We arrived at about 5:00 on a Thursday and were seated immediately. The BBQ chicken was wonderful and all the meals were served in what one might call a prospecting pan.
Stan Farmer from Ohio is saying Gold Rush is the best! I have been here many times and this place is on my rotation of restaurants. The baby back ribs are the best the sides green beans backed beans french fries are all so good the service is always so friendly and fast the price is very reasonable I really like this place and will continue to go back sometimes I get it to go at their pickup window.
Waiter made mistake after mistake. Young and inexperienced or spaced out, although very polite. St Louis Ribs were dry and over done. BBQ sauce barely saved the day.
I ate here mid afternoon on a Saturday and had the 1/2 pound hamburger with cucumber salad side and an iced tea. The hamburger was great ! It had a slight char with great flavor. The role was delicious (potato roll maybe) with 1 piece of lettuce that covered the bun with tomatoes and pickles. I was hungry and this was satisfying. Cucumber salad was good. Iced tea was served in a large cup with healthy looking lemons ! A great experience . I will be back.
Great prices, great people, and local! The best place to get a hearty, delicious meal on the island. The decor is like the old west, with big laquered tables and lots of wood, so it's different and casual. Secret: Wednesday is fried chicken night- and the best of all. The food is fast, the staff is great, and everything is awesome! You can easily pull up in back and order from the pick up window, or eat inside. The staff is mostly twenty-something guys, which is refreshing to see around here. There are a ton of cars parked every night, and I suggest you don't try to drive through the sandy back adjacent lot unless you have four wheel drive. I've seen several people get stuck in that property. Usually there's a local guy to pull you out though. The ribs and the BBQ chicken are wonderful, as is the Gold Rush Brew (beer), but honestly, I love the vegetarian burger or the corn bread the best! This place is sort of the local "diner" of Venice that everyone knows about. They even have a donation table for food for homeless people out on the porch and donate food to the community, so that makes them winners in my book.
Great service, great food, great price. Key Lime pie was awesome!! Waiter recommended (when asked) “the Mother Lode.” 2 lbs of bbq to share with hubby. Added an extra cornbread. Enough to eat with a little room for dessert and 2 beers each. Price tag = $40
