Really great southern food with friendly and quick service! Portions are big and you get a great deal with whatever you order. I got a half rack of ribs with the mashed potatoes and a garden salad as sides, and they always give you a piece of cornbread. It was all so delicious! I also love the little touches like giving you soda in a large mason jar. The interior was clean, there was plenty of parking, and I would definitely go back!
We went out for a date night with my honey. Darrell's has a lot of choices. Everything was done perfectly. I had a pulled pork sandwich and baked beans. The bun was really fresh and toasted. While the beans were not to my liking, my partner loved them. He had 1/2 a BBQ chicken with cole slaw and Mac and cheese. Plus, it came with corn bread , too. I love their corn bread.
Had the Sunday chicken pot pie special and let me tell you- it was the best pot pie I've ever eaten. Cooked and seasoned to perfection and the crust on top tasted like it was smoked. I also had to try the chicken and dumplings, just because they had it. And wow, best I've had outside my kitchen. Wife got the Hungry Heiffer platter and loved everything on it- particularly the brisket. Highly recommend Darrell's. We'll be back next time we're in Venice.
Good food and large portions. Lots to rake home for leftovers. Very friendly and helpful staff. Food cane quickly. The only reason for 4 stars is we felt there could have been more smoke flavor to the meats. Good but not excellent.
The food here is great the service is awesome I am so happy we took a recommendation and tried this place so now we have been here twice and both times it was excellent.
I like the charming look of the place. There is a bar. I think literally everything on the menu sounded appetizing. I had the brisket, which I would rate a 7/10. To be fair, I got it carry out so it may just be that my food cooled off. I'm sure it would have been better if I had dined in. Very clean and gentle lighting. I would recommend to friends.
Stopped in with some friends after church for our first visit. Boy, had we been missing something! The menu is loaded with so many, appealing, down-home, comfort foods, it was difficult to decide upon what to order. I had the best fried chicken livers ever with outstanding mashed potatoes and gravy and collard greens. My wife ordered the fried catfish which was delicious and covered her plate. Others in our group had different barbeque plates, one of which included a mouth-watering and tender looking brisket. The portions are very large, and the service was very good. Wish we had room for some of their enticing desserts. Will certainly be back to try several other waist-stretching temptations.
It is one of the best restaurants I've eaten at to date since moving to Florida. It's the best smoked menu I've seen. Brisket, chicken, ribs, pulled pork. My hubby had the Hungry Heifer with all the above with 2 sides: baked potato and potato salad and cornbread comes with most meals. Large sides menu, which include the above-mentioned sides plus cucumber sald, black beans, broccoli, fries, and sweet potato, to mention a few. I had liver and onions, sweet potato and broccoli, plus cornbread. Awesome meal and staff service were great. Food arrived quickly. Will definitely go again.
We had a large group and got to use their meeting room. The food was delicious! This is the peanut butter pie we shared. I tasted the banana pudding. YUM! Everything was good. The service was good too!
excellent service, phenomenal food, over abundant of food, reasonably priced. friendly atmosphere, excellent local hang out.
