Holy hell. Literally the best Mexican food I've ever had. Visiting my parents. The salsa here is AMAZING. I had a chicken burrito and a chicken enchilada. The queso and red sauce were both delicious. The rice and refried beans were to die for. Beans weren't runny and watered down like some places do. This will be my go-to whenever I visit my parents. The waiter was great, he was super friendly. Never ran out of drinks. Great service.

Jazz music?! Rice was hard. Fajita Chimi excellent. Service very good. Bottle domestic $5.25 each! Even during HAPpy Hour? Sigh. Will keep looking for Best Mexican in the area.
Slamming Food!!!! No they don’t throw every Mexican flavor known to all of Guatemala in their rice like most places !!! I was super Stoned Wanted a Traditional Mexican experience Drove down was greeted wonderfully and got what I was hoping for I shall be back
The house margarita had a pool of mix that just sat in the middle of the glass, no matter how much I stirred it just sat there like a blood clot. I had the chimichanga and Tamale combo, I asked for a beef chimichanga but the waitress insisted I asked for chicken because she wrote down chicken which she showed me, but I'd never ask for a chicken chimichanga, I don't like pollo all that much, never have. The food was miraculously bland but at the same time very salty. The rice was old, the refried beans were tired. The staff was nice though. I wish them the best, I won't be back.
Horrible service! Booth was dirty with salsa that got all over our clothes when we sat down. We cleaned it up with the paper towels and the server left the dirty paper towels on the table the whole time. Strawberry frozen margaritas had no strawberry flavor or alcohol… very watered down. Chips were stale for the nachos. Chips and salsa not complimentary. Portion sizes are now much smaller! Will not ever go back.? and we LOVE Mexican food!! Luckily Venice has many Mexican restaurants to choose from.
My wife and I had never eaten at Chicanos prior to our lunch visit today. We were pleased with our experience. Larger than it looks like from the outside and located in a strip mall, Chicanos was a pleasant surprise. We had the Special Naxos, Carne Asada and two Modelas. Both were good. Lunch bill was $40 plus tip.
This was our fourth visit to Chicanos. It is our 2nd choice when the wait is too long at our favorite Mexican restaurant in Venice. Normally the food is pretty good and service adequate. There was no line so we stood by the entrance waiting to be seated for 30 minutes. We then waited 10 minutes to get our drinks and told chips and salsa were coming. 50 minutes after arriving the chips and salsa were almost served as we got up to leave. The place was short handed so we were trying to be patient , but when a couple came in, got a hug, were seated immediately, and had drinks delivered before us, our patience had run out. That’s not the way to treat your patrons. We won’t be back.
have ordered in past and good amount of food with great flavor. this time an over 15 dollar quesadilla was just three little pieces. Most places they are much larger just as full for same price. not sure if skimping asthis hasn't happened before. disappointed as I had recommended it.
Horrible, Horrible, Horrible experience. We had a large table, 20 people. Made reservations days in advance. The tables and menus were absolutely discussing, dried food and everything sticky. Reservations were at 5:30 took foor order at 6:15 with the bill being split 4 ways. Didn't see any food or appetizers till 7:30. NOT ONE ORDER RIGHT. We gave up and ate what they brought out at that point. Still missing two orders, saw them 30 minutes later. Food was not as it once was very disappointing especially with the weight. Bill was wrong and took another 20 minutes to get that corrected and then only charged 2 out of the four the entire bill. We use to love this place, unfortunately we will not be returning after tonight's experience. Sad to see a once great restaurant turn into another dump. I will say we had two Waiters and the one did truly try but he was obviously overweight.
