Great time they had a great band playing! and the food was delicious we had the shrimp boil seasoned just perfectly and huge portions! The oyster p’boy sandwich was amazing according to my Cajun husband!
Fish sandwich was great. Service a little slow but food was great
Been here twice, never disappointed ever , oysters are absolutely amazing, entrees are so good ,I had the swordfish to die for , would recommend it highly! Thank you for your service
Great service especially for how busy it was on a Wednesday lunch hour. The shrimp po'boy was delicious & huge. The crab cake sandwich was surprisingly small, but the heaping pile of sweet potato fries made up for it. We tried the little oysters that were $1.50 each today. Overall, we had a great experience. I look forward to going back to try the famous Dinner items next time.
This place is walking distance from my house so a really convenient place to hang out with friends after work or whenever. Yesterday I had had a really long day and our server Mary was an angel. She was warm, polite and friendly. Food came out quickly, drinks were cold and I was very happy with my G & T! Cameron at the bar was upbeat and fun to chat with. Nice to have a place that appreciates locals and doesn’t just play to the tourist crowd. ?
So, we wanted seafood and spotted this restaurant as we drove by. We assumed if they have oysters (not for me) then they must have other seafood. Had a nice table on the outside partially covered bar - we had a tree over us that kept dropping its little branches (that's ok...nature). Started with a "Mae's Rum Bucket" drink and the additional Grand Marnier offered at $3. Did not expect the Grand Marnier to be put into the drink before serving but that was what I was told when served. I expected a good punch from the large fruity drink but could not even detect the liqueur. My wife had their Garden Gin drink and it was okay. We were there just after 3pm but they said the lunch menu would continue to 4pm since the kitchen was not prepared for dinner. Ordered the "Fried Platter" at $25 (minus the oysters and was offered additional shrimp as a substitute) and my wife had the "Shrimp Platter" at $18. My platter had extra shrimp but the breading on some were very dark (over fried) compared to the rest of the shrimp. Also a piece of fried fish and four (4) scallops. The scallops were the best and the rest was just okay; shrimp were overcooked. Same with the shrimp on my wife's platter. Was not told there was a vegetable of the day coming with the meal - broccoli; and was told we could order an extra side but they were not listed on the lunch menu. Had leftovers but left them. We were disappointed and maybe this was an off day. Service was attentive.
Lunch was great. They offer a very limited lunch menu, but the oysters were great and the po boy sandwich yummy and huge. We viewed the dinner menu and it looked good too. Indoor and outdoor seating areas were very attractive. Off the traditional sponge dock visitor area, but I would suggest trying this spot if you are a visitor to our area.
After our group cancelled dinner plans elsewhere, we decided with another couple to try somewhere new and close by. We were all satisfied with our decision to try Morgan Mae's. Atmosphere was cozy and friendly, service was great, as was the food. Husband enjoyed Maryland oysters. Special that night was swordfish which was delicious! They also served complimentary warm potato salad and coleslaw, both again delicious. Happy hour deals also good. Definitely recommend giving it a try!
Such a warm and genuinely inviting owner. it turns out to be that, despite careful and precise advance prep, unsuspecting surprise that hopefully happen in a good month somewhere special. Much great character staff! It begins for many beyond the more inside restaurant, with the bar area beyond under and around greenery - ironically an area a whiff atmospheric despite street indistinction. The Wednesday oyster special is not to miss. We did it thrice which is more than a pair of deuces for those unknowing. It's the only cameo oyster resource in and near Tarpon's magic. The drinks are generous and tasty. There are appetizers more usual but with a respectable calamari signature, now rarer everywhere. I like the touch of two generous little complimentary sides, with whatever is ordered. We did have the sole stuffed lightly with crabmeat, better than most and light. Highly recommended for something far less downtown tourist-driven.
Great outside bar. Wait staff excellent, oyster flight was delicious! Nice way to spend a sunny but chilly day! Recommend highly!
