I was looking for a light meal after a long day and Dimitri's didn't disappoint. Upon arrival I spotted a gorgeous salad at another table. Although I'm not a salad person I had to have a Greek cobb with white fish and it was phenomenal. The service was outstanding--very attentive and checked in frequently to make sure we were enjoying ourselves. My dining companions had chicken souvlaki and grouper, respectively, and loved their meals. Oh, and the view--do not forget the view! Great place to relax in Tarpon Springs. Highly recommend.
Went to Dimitris (again)- the food, service and atmosphere were all just great. Manny and Frank were awesome! My family loves going there and we will keep it up as long as we can ?
The food was not very good quality, I’d say below average compared to other Greek Restaurant's I’ve dined. On top of that, we were given dirty utensils.
My family of 4 went to Tarpon Springs and expected to have a good time on the beach. We stopped by a boutique shop where they recommended this restaurant on the water and said they offer traditional Greek cuisines. So we went to this Dimitri's restaurant and expect to having a good lunch on Tuesday (5/30/22) early afternoon. Unfortunately, the service was very poor! This female server was impatient and would not want to provide the details on the sauce ingredients, acting as we were bothering her with all of those questions. My husband is allergic to quite a few food items, that's why we have to know what's in the unknown sauces. We did not wish to make this server upset, so we just ordered some items on the menu thought to be safe to my husband, and at the meantime, trying to smile to this server for a return of her smiling face. When the bill came, we found there was a 20% gratuity automatically added to the tab without informing us first, so I disputed that 20% and offered the server 12% instead to justify of her poor attitude and service. But the restaurateur/manager insisted that I have to pay minimum of 15 % gratuity to his employee even though I was not satisfied with the service. I should have refused to pay the gratuity at all! I had paid more than 25% gratuity for the good service a day before, but didn't think this server's attitude deserved even a 15% for a lunch meal, she had put my husband's health in danger and ruin our entire day! By the way, the food was not bad, but nowhere near exceptional as local people described. I was told this is the family business, father owns a restaurant across street and the son operates this one. The restaurateur/manager said that this server has been working for the restaurant 20+ years, couldn't have done anything wrong; but maybe she was just working there too long, taking everything as granted, and didn't realize that the gratuity must be earned, not just charging consumer automatically and acting as a boss instead of providing the service! So the food was ok, but the service was poor, and you will be charged 20% service fee whether if you're satisfied with the food/service or not, because they think that's how much (20%) you OWE them when you walk into that restaurant at the first place!
My husband and I ate here probably 50 years ago and loved the Greek salad with potato salad in bottom. This trip was with a friend who had not eaten here. She loved it! We were seated immediately near the outside tables on the water and there was a wonderful breeze. The salad was excellent and the service quick. We were debating small or large salads and our waitress recommended small and she was right! No way we could have eaten the large. So glad Dimitri’s is still great!!
Excellent Greek salad, gyro’s and calamari.
This place is a one hit wonder…as in, I wonder why we ate here. On a positive note they have outside seating. On the down side, the service was brusk and indifferent. When I asked if they served shrimp cocktail I was told to look at the menu. The food was not particularly good and in fact the grouper was inedible. The appetizers and main course came out nearly at the same time and we felt rushed to finish the appetizers. We didn’t finish them because they weren’t that good. They even managed to screw up splitting the check! There are much better places to eat in tarpon springs and I recommend you try any other one than this one.
My brother and his wife were visiting from Michigan. They had been to Greece just before The pandemic shut down so we’re happy to go to Tarpon Springs. After a day of being tourists they wanted some Greek food for dinner and wanted to be on the eater. Dimitri’s filled the order. The food was excellent and the service amazing. I apologize the I cannot remember our waitress’ s name but she was top-notch. The saganaki was sooo delicious. Everyone enjoyed their meal and the setting was so relaxing it made me feel like I was on vacation too.
Usually I'm not picky about service - simply expect from servers to do their job and leave me alone. But this place was a nightmare. Mr Frangisk made us feel unwelcomed from start, never asked how we gonna pay (there was 2 couples), messed up checks 2(!) times, yelled at me and my wife and tried to add 20% for his "Service". Manager was absolutely useless and did little to nothing to resolve the issue. Apparently conflicts with customers is their daily routine.
One of my friends and I were out at the Sponge Docks, and stopped here to eat. We're both teens, and most everyone else eating here were middle aged or older. I do not if that is why we were treated the way we were but it was the only thing my friend and I could figure out. Firstly when we entered, the man who ended up being our server, said in an uninterested and bothered tone, "Do you guys need something?" We weren't really expecting this kind of greeting but we, originally, weren't going to think much of it and responded, "we would like to get seated, please." He then said "oh, okay. How many?" as he rolled his eyes. We said it was just the two of us and he seated us. Again, we didn't really want to think too hard about it and just hoped the food would be good and we would be served like everyone else. Looking around it seemed like they served bread baskets like most the other restaurants in the sponge docks. So when our server can back with the drinks we ordered, we were expecting a bread basket as well. He did not bring one so I asked if they served bread here, he proceeded to say that it is an extra cost that we would have to order as a side. I found this a bit unexpected, and after he walked away I decided to ask one of the other servers walking by. She said that they do in fact serve bread, and not as a side. I asked her if she could bring us some, she then said that our server is supposed to come with the bread for us. Not wanting to cause any trouble, I did not inform her of what our server said, because at this point my friend and I just wanted to eat and leave. We ordered a gyro each, and when our server came over with them they looked good. Unfortunately, turns out they were a bit on the oily side, and I've personally never had a gyro that oily. It was dripping all over my hands and plate. My friend was pretty disappointed too, as they personally really love gyros. They agreed with me, that the gyro was oily and tasted off. I don't know if it was just a bad day, or if this is how it usually is but personally I do not wish to eat there again.
