I had been looking forward to eating at Currents since my last visit to Tarpon, as it came highly recommended by a local friend. I decided to go for lunch, as the prices are much lower. The lobster bisque is spectacular! My salmon in Grand Marnier glaze was delicious and the garlicky green beans were perfect. Our server, James, was very attentive. Worth a repeat visit--or two.
We had my bridal shower here last week and I cannot say enough wonderful things about Cami & her staff! She was an absolute delight to work with, the chef was so willing to work with my dietary restrictions and wow was the food good! I still have people talking about the food! The space is wonderful for any type of party, rehearsal or reception! Again, thank you Currents for making my bridal shower absolutely wonderful!
Alma was an amazing waitress. She was so kind and friendly -She makes a great whiskey smash! This place was excellent. Highly recommend is the Osso bucco! 5 starts! Thanks!! Enjoyed my meal and will be back again soon.
This place is so cute!!! I loved it so much! We sat at the bar and our server/bartender (Alma) was the best! She was taking good care of us and the tables around us. She’s incredibly capable while maintaining a heart-warming attitude the whole time! We really enjoyed this. The drinks here was amazing too! Alma made the most delicious drinks; I highly enjoyed them. You can def tell she loves this art.Definitely coming back ?
If you want a 2 star ambience (think of a bar type setting)with a 3 star service and a 5 star prices, this is your place. $54 for scallop dinner and $28 for scallop appetizer, for example. None of the restaurants in the area charge that much. Go to 'Oystercatchers' and pay less while enjoying a superb service and beautiful views. 'Mystic Fish', a beautiful dining establishment, charges way less and the ambience is lovely. These are just a few examples out of many more. By the way, don't go by their menu online. It has not been updated yet. That's another surprise. You think you are getting something for a certain price only to find out it's 40 to 50% higher. There's a term for it, and it's called bait and switch. I don't mind paying more for service, food and ambience, but I find it insulting to be charged a fortune for a very mediocre dining experience.
We’ve been wanting to try Currents for a while now, so we stopped in for lunch. We liked the white table cloths and red roses for every table and the overall decor. James was our friendly, attentive server and bartender. We had crab cakes to start and salmon and filet bolognese w/pasta and two side salads. Everything was delicious. The salad was fresh and house made dressing was terrific! We will definitely return.
Excellent lunch offerings. Had the salmon and salad. Food was prepared excellent. Service was prompt and attentive. Highly recommend this place.
I was in Tarpon Springs, my home town, recently; the restaurant we wanted to dine at turned out to be closed, so we drove around town, and stopped here. Our lucky day! First, parking was pretty easy, and free. We had no reservations, but were early enough to be seated anyway (party of three). We had the bruschetta to start--very good! House cabernet was impressive. Chicken Picatta, Hunter chicken, and Pasta Calabrese for entrees, and let me tell you--the best chicken ever! The chef changed the pasta dish to accommodate the wishes of my friend, without any difficulty. We were too full for desert, but next time I'll try to save room. Wait staff was very congenial, and orders were taken and delivered on time. I can't wait to return with a larger group: gotta get more of my friends and family here!
Ate both lunch and dinner there before writing this review. The lunch menu is better than the dinner menu choices. The flatbreads are well done. Dinner menu fare is highly specialized and while there are choices, they are not representative of what most people would want to eat. Service was okay for lunch but at dinner, there was a private party and the food service pacing and length of time one had to wait was too long. Portions were large. Ordered chateaubriand, medium-rare, came out raw, kitchen attempted to correct it prior to serving as both sides of the meat were slightly browned but the inner portion cold. Green beans were too crisp but supposedly cooked. Too expensive and too long a wait for the food that finally did come. They rand out of espresso "pods", time to get an espresso machine.
I visited the restaurant at lunch time. It was quite full. I was greeted quickly and seated at a table with a window. The waiter, who was also the bartender, was pleasant and professional. He brought my iced tea, exactly as requested --- unsweet tea with ice and a slice of lemon. The luncheon menu had a variety of items, including homemade soup, salads, sandwiches, and entrees. I selected the chicken piccata, which came with a vegetable and rice. The rice was cooked appropriately and not stuck together. The green beans were fresh. The piccata consisted of two good-sized pieces of chicken. The sauce was lemony and tasted absolutely delicious. I didn't have room for dessert, but there were several homemade desserts from which to choose. There is a full bar with many select wines and bourbons. This meal was one of the best piccatas I have ever had.
