Nice ambiance. Great place to relax and look out at the river. Food is ok. I enjoyed the pineapple slaw.
I was at the convention center for an event and went to this place for a beer afterward. The beer was very cold, which I really appreciated, especially given the temperature that day. On a hot day, there is nothing like a very cold beer to make it all better. I also had good service, so perhaps I was lucky that day as I have seen that other people have complained about getting bad service here. I think the prices are a bit high there, at least I thought the draft beer in a plastic cup (not a pint but smaller) was a bit expensive at $8, it felt more like a $6 pour, but you are paying for the location more than for the drink. Overall I enjoyed my time there and would stop again if in the area.
Great open air place. Lots of nice people hanging out. The bartender Max is one of the best. I love that place. Food is good and served fast. I just regret ordering the grouper nuggets. They were way too salty. I hate to return food. So I had to toss it. Wings and fries were great. I still give 5 stars for service and hospitality. Great mojito by the way. Thank you Max!!!
We have been boating up to the Sail since they opened years ago. Unfortunately, it has become pretty disappointing. Went this weekend for drinks and appetizers. Ordered $60 in drinks but when we asked for cups of ice waters for the kids we were told no. Instead, we had to buy bottled water only to see a lady come after us and get a cup of ice water. My mother went back up and asked for a cup of ice water and the rude bartender told her she had to buy something. It is absolutely ridiculous that this place is now in the nickle and dime you to death business. We won't be going back.
This place really went downhill after Covid. Used to have nice, friendly staff who livened the place up, and now it’s just stuffy and robotic, like a fast food joint. They definitely seem to be pushing out locals to rush people in and out. The city of Tampa owns it, so go figure.
I’m not sure what happened to this place or what management is doing, but the bar constantly has a line a mile long. I timed it and it was literally 15 minutes to get a drink. And it wasn’t even busy or crowded. This is a great spot and location and they could do so much more with it. They also added this new handicap parking that is painted white with white stripes, so you can’t even tell where or how you should park in the spot. This place was a lot cooler before they remodeled and went full corporate. Bright fluorescent lights, they took down all the old patrons pictures and memorabilia.Fun fact: The renovation of the sail pavilion took longer than it did for the new JW Marriott to go up directly behind it.
miserable unhappy employees..... maybe my partner and I visited twice on off nights but both of my experiences here I was greeted by people that just did not want to be at work. Both times feeling as if I was burdening them just by simply being there and placing an order. The kitchen staff put out some great tasting fish dip and fried shrimp but the people working the window dealing with the paying guests were absolutely miserable.
Great spot tons of seating. First come first serve for seating with a walk up bar. Views are great and the atmosphere is super laid back.Prices are fine not cheap but not extortion either, think 6 bucks for a pint. There is a seafood restaurant next store (not all seafood) where you can order from. It's rare we visit Tampa without visiting The Sail.
Nice place to eat and drink with nice view of the bay. It is takeaway with out service. The fish sandwiche is very tasty especially the grilled groper.
Had a great time here. Bartenders were friendly, drinks were reasonable, comfortable place to hang out.
