Unfortunately I wasn't able to stop in there. It looks like they're doing some sort of restoration, or I hope that's what it is at least! Stop by the Ybor City information center to get the full gist of how culturally significant this building was. Back during the founding of Ybor City, this was where the Cuban immigrants would gather for various events. There are other clubs as well. There's an Italian one, I believe a German one, and maybe an Austrian one? All of them serve a similar purpose. But I really recommend stopping by the information center and watching their little 5-minute or so video. It's quite interesting to see where the first Cubans immigrated to in the United States at the turn of the 20th century. If you take the time and understand just how historically important Ybor City is, you'll really learn to appreciate it.
Went for a concert and have never seen a venue so under prepared. Got in line 30 mins after doors opened and it took a full hour from there to get in. Completely missed the opening act. The concert itself had to be interrupted 6 times so the artist could guide medical staff to various emergencies, this was due to the fact that the venue didn't have enough security staff to monitor the situations from the ground. Overall, a complete mess of a show.If you are an artist/promoter/booking agent, AVOID
First, I attended here for a concert, not for an event that is more typical at the Cuban Club. Knowing that this an was an outlier event, it was not a great venue for a concert. The concert capacity was the size of The Fairgrounds Amphitheater, with the staff, resources and space of The Ritz Ybor. Calling this The Patio is generous, as this is a fence enclosed, black top parking lot for the Cuban Club. The line to get into the venue was chaotic, disorganized and inefficient. It went down the street, wrapped around HCC, spiraled into and out of the HCC courtyard, and back out, splitting off in different places. Inside, on the blacktop parking lot- turned concert venue, the lines to buy merch and get a drink didn't need very many people before they intermingled with the crowd. Portapotties for restrooms. No other options. Security/Staff were poorly placed and primarily absent between the stage and the crowd, which was a real issue with people passing out. They needing to be carried out of the crowd. At least 10 pass outs required the concert to pause and it took several minutes for someone to reach the person. No shaded areas, no industrial fans, no water stations, no traditional bathroom structures, no line security/staffing, and no staffing in areas needed the most on a traditional hot and humid Florida evening: the front of the stage. The sound tent was 20 ft, center from the stage. This was a problem bc it restricted an area best to see the show, and because it was surrounded by barriers, that people were allowed to sit on top of, which made it even more difficult to see the show. I'm not here to bash the Cuban Club, bc I'm sure they worked very hard at this show, however, there are a lot of opportunities to improve upon for future concerts/events of this size in the future.
Such an awesome experience. We were on a haunted ghost tour and went into the theater here and my goodness the feels. Amazing. Hope this lasts forever! Beautiful building and the sounds and feels .. gives me chills just thinking about it.
Visited this as part of the Ybor City Ghost tours. Beautiful building on the inside and out with an incredible history. Apparently one if the most haunted buildings in the US. Fidnt see any ghosts but enjoyed touring the building
When I used to study at HCC Ybor on my gap between classes I went to the Cuban Club, this was back in the day when you did not need an appointment to go in. Wow it is haunted plenty of history also. Felt something touch me when I was in the basement downstairs where the ATM machine is.
It's presented as a Historical place but didn't find anything which projects History!!!
Excellent Historic Venue, hosting Celebrate Sinatra last evening. Great hardworking staff, beautiful inside.
I liked the architecture but the owner lives there and was rude.
Nice relaxing place. Great selection, good spirits.
