Went last week… wow, couldnt wait for this weekend to get here to go again. And the food was even better. ? I mean it aint right what their doing here. ohmygosh. Cant get enough of it. Last week I had the oxtails ?? this week I got the Veggie plate.?The young lady that takes our order is very nice too. And just when I think Im ready to pay, she says: “Would you like to add gravy?” Me: ? she says “….you can get it from any meat you want” ???It was like she read my mind! I was already thinkin’ about it, but wasnt gonna say nothing.But I mean that did it for me. ????♥️ THIS SPOT! Absolutely delicious
walk-up window with one outdoor picnic table for seating. would recommend calling / ordering ahead online. had the oxtail dinner with mac and field peas - all meals come with cornbread and yellow rice. everything was seasoned perfectly and was definitely the most authentic, home-cooked-style soul food i have ever had from a restaurant. i will be dreaming about the mac n cheese for sure. also had the strawberry lemonade which was divine. service was friendly and efficient as well. everything is a little expensive, but worth every cent.
I have eaten here “plenty” of times and reason for me coming back is that the food is very good! All of the meat dishes are good bt them got d yams and lima beans/butter beans mixed are by far my fav sides! Awesome food with great customer service equals success
Over priced and a rip off. I ordered 3 to go standard meals(oxtails, baked chicken, turkey wing) with 2 drinks. It came to about $63.00. I was charged $80.00 on my credit and they gave themselves 18% tip. Waited 30 mins for 3 oxtail bones with barely meat on them, 1 turkey wing not with the tip on it or whole ring and not to mention over seasoned food. This place is a joke and it’s bad they have to rip off a 1st time supporter. I will never support any businesses that steals from their customers and people like them won’t prosper. If you do decide to support this establishment I recommend to not give them your credit card and to pay cash and make sure you are checking behind what they are charging you. To be honest the food that they serve in a small quantity is not worth it. And also the seasoning if you have high blood pressure definitely don’t go here because they empty salt all of their food. Definitely a -0 if I could give them one. You be better coming out going to some other local African-American soul Food or someone that is selling dinners.
HORRIBLE SERVICE DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME‼️Ordered my food over the phone they told me the Mac wouldn’t be ready for 20-25 minutes. I placed the order then when I went to pick the food up they told me they sold my plates and weren’t holding orders due to first come, first serve. I was so confused what did I order over the phone for? Why did they tell me to wait on the mac? Completely wasted my time & gas I will NEVER order from them again & will be sure to tell everyone I no not eat there. Also right in the hood, was scared to get out of my car. You try to support black business and this is what you get smh run, run fast you’ve been warned‼️‼️‼️‼️

I decided to try M&R cafe because there aren’t too many good soul food restaurants in my city. Let’s start with service, super friendly and my order was ready right on time. The food? Even better. The container it came in separated all the food it was neatly packed and looked super delicious:) The chicken was falling right off the bone, perfectly seasoned & cooked. The rice was also, to my surprise, cooked to perfection as well. My entire meal was 10/10!! Food tastes home cooked which makes the entire experience even better, I will always be coming back to M&R.
GOOD GAWD ALMIGHTY!!!!!! This place is AMAZING. My husband and I went here for the 1st time and will be returning again.I can't even get mad if he stopped here to eat before he came home full belly and all...long as he bring me some food back too.I had the ox tails which were DELICIOUS, tender and flavorful.He had the baked chicken which was amazing as well.I will say this place has won him over with their corn bread... he seemed to like it more than my own. LolWe will be returning and already have our meal plan picked out.Thank you for the great service and food!
I have never had better soul food from any other restaurant. I tried the Baked chicken, Mac & Rice… let me tell you I have been patiently waiting ALL week to come back as soon as they open on Saturday? The food tastes home cooked, definitely worth testing out!! :) 10/10 DID NOT MISS ON ANYTHING THAT WAS ON MY PLATE ?
