I have been wanting to try this place since I moved to this side of town. After reading reviews and checking out their menu, I decided to give it try and order some to take home. I walked into the place and the woman working there did not hide her displeasure that I was there. I told her I wanted to order food to go, and she wouldn't give me a menu, instead asked me to look up the menu on uber eats. OK fine, I did that. When she came back out I told her I was ready to order. Still showing her displeasure, she asked me to order through uber eats! Are you kidding me? I am all for ordering food delivery when I'm at home, but those places jack up the menu prices, plus delivery fees and other fees, no way I'm going to pay double when I'm already at the restaurant. I told her that those places increase the prices and that I did not want to order that way. She basically shrugged her shoulders. I was so mad. I walked out and will never return there.
I've passed by many times and did not stop because I did not like the location vibes I got. They seemed surprised I was there for lunch but they were open. When testing a sushi place I order the sashimi and look for any of my favorites. In luck, they make spider rolls, a favorite of mine. The salmon and white tuna were great and the tuna was good. The clam and shrimp don't ever change from place to place. There was no yellow tail, one of my favorite sashimi's. The sashimi selection could have been better. The spider roll had the classic flavor I look for, very good! The place itself looks cluttered, dingy and unorganized. It felt a bit claustrophobic. As you turn the corner it opens up a little. Massive menu of interesting and obscure items. I'm definitely going back to try a more diverse selection. It may take while. If great food persists, then it will go to 5 stars. Ramen is next.
This is my favorite Japanese restaurant. There is only one waitress so don't expect typical American customer service. There is a bell on the table for you to get the waitresses attention. If you are look for great Japanese food and a more authentic Japanese restaurant experience this place is for you.
Obviously the staff wrote these reviews because this place is trashed. And you will get the worst customer service I have gotten in the last couple years. And the silverware is plastic. Who is giving this place good reviews? Everything in this place is sticky and dirty. The staff and their family I'm sure! My sashimi was chopped not even cut evenly it's supposed to be a work of art. Asked five times for water and never got it. Do you want something else from the waitress? Forget about it. They are nowhere to be found here. It's the dirtiest most confusing menu you will ever see in Tampa. I would love to see the health department in here and do an inspection.. a thorough inspection with thermometers and let's see how clean it is back there because of it looks anything like the inside of the restaurant this place would be closed. Where are the restaurant authorities in Tampa? Come they are not going in here and picking this place apart? You're going to make everyone sick!
Tl;dr: This place is amazing.I have never had any ramen aside from maruchen, so I wanted to try authentic ramen, and that’s what I feel like I got here. I got the tonkatsu ramen with pork belly (you have to get the pork belly) and it far exceeded any expectations I had for ramen. I get a real mom and pop feel to the restaurant, so how that’s how you know the food is good. The prices are very fair and the server was really nice and flexible with the menu. You should definitely check this place out.
This place is a hidden gem! I’ve ordered twice and both times the rolls were so fresh and good. I’ve only done Uber eats and pick up though so I’m unsure of the dine in experience but I will try that next!
Their food is delicious! I have not tried anything I have not liked.
Authentic Japanese food. Had a wide variety of Japanese food from appetizers to desert which were all traditional Japanese food. We had sukiyaki which is a soy based hot pot dish with lots of meat and vegetables. It was the right amount for 1 person. There was 2 of us so we ordered 2 portions and extra meat but honestly don't need the extra meat unless your really hungry. After we were done the lady brought us some snacks to take home which was very nice. Please just understand these are hard times and just because the store doesn't look nice it doesn't mean the food isn't either. If you want true authentic Japanese food this is the place to go.
Best Ramen I ever had in my life. I litterly drive a hour and 10 minutes just to come here for there Beef Ramen. I went to many ramen shops and sushi places and this one by far tops the cake. They are super good customer service and are very welcoming. It's a small family owned shop and they do everything they can to make you feel welcomed and comfortable. I ate here for thr past 2 years or so and never once had any issues with them.
awesome food went here a few months ago but yet again awesome food?
