Only giving 2 stars for our server Riley. She was great! Super friendly, handled our large party, and tried to fix the kitchen's mistakes. The food was awful. I was the first one to notice, but our meals came out cold. I never send anything back, but asked if they could bring me fresh shrimp. They brought a new basket, but this time the shrimp was raw. There was a few of them that were not grilled fully and had gray and spots left on them. At this point my friends were mostly done eating, and I was full from the fries, I just took the loss. I understand we went on a holiday weekend and they were busy, but my whole party did not fully enjoy their meal. The view and the service was great, but most of the food was simply bad.
We heard great reviews of this place. Tonight we went there with my niece's birthday. Waiting to be taken care of was amazing over 40 minutes before we even got the drinks another 40 minutes to get the appetizers. The place that I am showing you are the shrimp being Overcoat it didn't even taste like shrimp I was very disappointed a $200 bill. And I have nothing good to say. Would I go back absolutely not.
First time trying Hula Bay Club and was pretty impressed. The fried snapper with pineapple chutney on top was amazingly delicious ! Paired well with coconut Jasmine rice and a fresh lime. The ceviche was excellent and paired with house made chips which were to die for. We also had the coconut shrimp and fajita steak tacos which were enjoyed. Dynamite oysters weren’t so great. Service was great and ambience was beautiful. Will return again!
We visited in March and there was obviously a shortage of (good) staff; we were not very hopeful of a good experience after the hostess rolled her eyes when we agreed to wait the 55 minutes she quoted for a table! But, despite that, we were pleasantly surprised in the end.A waterfront location with a good amount of seating along the deck makes them an immediate draw; add to that a view of the fish swimming around the lights below after sunset, and everybody is happy. We also enjoyed the 'house cats' that they let walk between the tables (though I suppose that could be a problem for some). We ordered the tuna nachos starter - great presentation, OK flavor, though maybe a little over priced for what was delivered? Then the grilled grouper sandwich and fries were both very good and reasonably priced; and a poke bowl which was excellent quality, though the additions were a little limited. This was all accompanied by a wide drink selection with several decent beers on tap.Overall, a solid dinner experience, in a good location with good service (after the initial greeting) and we will be happy to go back again and try more of the menu .
Good food great service and friendly
We had the most amazing experience here! We came to kick off our honeymoon and I really wanted to sit overlooking the water. They said it was over an hour wait but because it was our honeymoon they would try to pull something off. In 5 minutes they sat us at the perfect table with an incredible view. My husband saw a dolphin! Our server blew us away with how friendly and nice she was. Then the manager came over and brought us 2 glasses of champagne with strawberries and an extra bottle of champagne. The food was so good and the portions were generous. We were so impressed we complimented the GM on everything and how we were treated. He is the nicest man, his name is Joseph. We were headed on a cruise the next day but said we would like to return when we came back. He said to text him and gave his number and he would be happy to have us again. We returned last night and he had our same table waiting for us. We had another great server and more amazing food. The manager who brought the champagne last week asked how our honeymoon was. Everyone treated us like friends. We will come here any time we are back in Tampa happily!
This was recommended by a neighbor as we had two couples coming into town. I called the day before and was told that no reservations were taken on weekends. One couple arrived and was told they were booked all day, strange considering they told me no reservations. Somehow, she convinced them to re-consider and we were told there was an hour wait which we were fine with. We were seated in less than an hour. Our server was very good. The speaker was right above our table and needless to say we could not hear each other. We asked server to turn music down which he did but then the manager turned it back up. The server indicated that we were not the first to complain but for some reason the manager chose not to allow the music to be turned down so we could enjoy our conversation. Thankfully the food was good but question their management decision makers.
Great place with great prices and good food with an awesome view
The good: good waterfront vibe, great views, friendly staff. The bad: awful food, long wait for table, and even longer wait for food. We waited over and hour...as most people did. And probably worse french fries ever had at a restaurant. Hard to mess that up. Fish for the fish tacos was lukewarm at best. Fish and Chips...fish was just a notch above Mrs Paul's. Go for the view and the drinks. Just not the food.
This place is AMAZING, not only is all the staff super nice but the food is amazing! Everything you order is mouth-watering! The place has an amazing view, super sweet cats who like to come around outside and the valet workers are always sweet! I love coming here with my family!
