I’ve eaten at this truck at least three times and each time I have to say the food is delicious I highly recommend
This is some of the slowest food service I’ve EVER EXPERIENCED. No line at 10pm yet I still am waiting over 20 minutes for my food. There is no good reason for this with 2 people working. AWFUL SERVICE
Buena comida , buena calidad de ingredientes, y buen servicio . Lo recomiendo!!!!!!
Best puerto rican food in Old San Juan. Tostones de plantains are to die for. The pesteles are wonderful. The Pernil, cooked to perfection. The wait is long but worth it. Highly recommend
Small “local” cafe/restaurant in San Juan. Our tour guide from the previous day had highly recommended it and there seemed to be a queue outside most of the time. Many other people in the queue had had similar recommendations - as a place for ‘great authentic Puerto Rican food”. Had to queue outside for ~ 30 mins despite there clearly being empty tables inside. Eventually got allowed in and seated. Very basic, low end vibe/ decor inside - think this is on purpose to add to the mistique. Service was quite quick once we got seated. Fairly basic menu - we picked the ‘sampler for 2’ of typical Puerto Rican Flavors. Despite the hype and mystique they have about the place - the food was……meh. To be honest - “traditional Puerto Rican” food is pretty crap- stodgy plantains (cooked three different ways!) rice, beans and some pork. Not a fresh vegetable, salad or anything green insight- but that’s what your asked for. So - bottom line - the place is OK - but by no means fantastic, great or special. If you want some cheap local starchy food then it’s ok- enjoy!
On Tuesday, restarant was supposed to open at 11. It did not open until 11:30. Rice and Beans were great (how can you go wrong with that!), but the vegetarian dish (looked like mexican tamale) was super super salty, pork dish was nothing but cartlidge, and the fried chicken was nothing more than chicken bones picked off of a mean and deep fried. Total waste of money. I am sure the fresh juices are great, but food just was not worth the money.
My husband and I were looking for some local cuisine. We ordered the Puerto Rican sampler for two along with a pineapple juice and rum for me and a passion fruit and rum for him. It was absolutely delicious and service was friendly & fast.
Food and service was overall good! Great place to try Puerto Rican food. Not too expensive as well. Waited almost 1hr but def worth it. Only problem is that the place seems to be short-staffed and the servers looked so over worked. Hopefully the management/owner does something with this.
Deaverdura was by far the best and almost cheapest restaurant we ate during our entire stay. Our son, who is a pretty adventurous eater, thought the shrimp, beans and rice were delicious and even his friend, who is a very picky eater, finished all his chicken and rice. Everyone's food was wonderful and such a bargain as we found much of the food on Puerto Rico to be fairly pricey. We arrived at 11:30 and it looked like the restaurant was closed but there were clearly a few people inside so my husband opened the door and asked if they were open. They were and got us in. Several more parties showed up shortly after and were seated and then the line formed outside. But, again, with good reason as the food was amazing.
Best place to eat Puerto Rican food.
