This is my second review for the once beloved Besito. Since moving here 2 1/2 years ago this restaurant has been my favorite restaurant in Tampa. Throughout that time I can’t count the number of Friday night dates my husband and I have had here. Many of the waitstaff got to know us. We’ve introduced all our friends and visiting family to it and Celebrated birthdays there. But that was then. After a small break from eating out and with our friends visiting we went to enjoy what should have been another great experience. The first clue something had changed were the menus. They have been replaced by plastic covered cheap taco shop looking menus. I spent 30 years in SoCal and love a cheap taco stand but Besito is not supposed to be that. There were small changes to the menu items but most seemed the same. The chips and salsa came and wow. Besito had one of the freshest delicious salsas I’ve ever had. However, what arrived was a bland tomato soup with one basket of chips. When the guacamole arrived another basket did not. Of course the chips were gone before the guacamole and when we asked for another basket to finish off the guoc was told we would be charged 3.95. Mind you the guacamole is not cheap at almost 13.00. But if you want chips with it that’s extra. It was not the last time the waiter would apologize for being under “new management.” My husband and I always have the trio of tacos. But when I tried to order my usual 1 carne asada and 2 chicken I was told I couldn’t have that. All three of the tacos had to be the same. No more mixing and matching and another apology for the “new management.” One thing to look forward to were the 3 mini hot churros that came at the end of every meal. Not anymore. I hate to see the “new management” turn this once beloved restaurant into a cheap (not $)bland and stingy place. These are small things but they add up and are petty on their part. It was reflected in the lack of diners. Sad to say we won’t be back either.

Overprice mediocre Mexican food. They charge for extra basket of chips and nothing comes with side items

Customer service is friendly, efficient and accommodating. We were seated right away with a smile. Our waitress was kind, helpful and was attentive to our needs. The food came out hot and delicious. I had a enchilada ranchera and they allowed me to change my protein from chicken to pork without an issue. Everything tasted fresh and the portions were generous. We definitely will return again.

$3.50 for a second serving of salsa and chips? I can think of 5 other Mexican restaurants that don’t charge that. My enchiladas were two rolled tortillas with shredded chicken. Nothing else inside it. Light on sauce, light on cheese. The tiny side of beans and rice that came with it for 4 people??! The beans had no flavor whatsoever so I didn’t mind the tablespoonful I had. I have had much better flavored beans in a can. I really wanted to like this place and came with an open mind.

It was an okay experience… made reservations and upon arrival the table, side of seats and floor was dirty.

Nice Atmosphere, great food although a little noisy. Recommended for unique food!

Food was brought cold. Service was not good. Cost for food not worth all

Service was great. Food was average. The chips and salsa were the best thing.

Friendly, efficient service with excellent food.

Food was good, prices were fairly high for what you get. If price point was lower i would definitely return but presently not sure that I would. It was good just nothing to write home about.
