I visited Wharf casual seafood for the first time, the restaurant was clean. Good customer service. The food was ok, with not too much flavor.
Food is usually good but today my red beans & rice was a bit salty. shrimp was fried too hard. Hush puppies dried out. Great customer service.
Some of the best seafood in town. Not only is the food good but the service is impeccable. Casual and comfortable. Great way to end your workday. Highly recommend the Shrimp Boat salad! And don’t forget the pita chips. Also throw in some extra hush puppies. You can’t go wrong!
The one star is because the front/dining room staff were polite and professional. We've eaten at Wharf a few times and it's always been hit or miss. Nothing to write a review about until now. We ordered take out and waited a reasonable amount of time for our food. This is where the positives end. At home we discovered the oysters and fish were WAY overcooked...dark brown, with some charring, and it was obvious they hadn't changed their oil in a while. It tasted bad, dry, a real waste of some good oysters. I called the manager to let him know about the problem, but I wasn't asking for anything at this point. I figured with enough sauce I could get it down, but then I discovered they had also forgotten to include my slaw, so I had to go back with the food. I met the manager who I had spoken with, showed him the food and he accused me of bashing his restaurant and being rude on the phone. I expressed my frustration, but I was never rude or abusive. The ruined oysters were sitting on the table in front of him as proof of my claims. Instead of offering to recook the food after I had already made the trip back to the restaurant, he suggested a refund. The "manager" went to the back to get the "real manager" to process my refund. He asked me to leave and not come back. On this, we agree, I won't be back. They could have easily kept my business by addressing the problem in the kitchen and having a dialogue with me to find a solution. I've never been served something so bad and then be treated so badly by the management after bringing it to their attention.
Imagine waiting 45+ mins for this? The grouper was pure garbage and they tell me I should have ordered an entree if I didn’t like the portion. Listen, idc, this is a silly serving size. It was 1 and 1/2 pieces of grouper and one seemed to be bad. I would never eat here again after how bad this experience was, sadly.
I haven't beem here in a long while but I took my family here for dinner tonight. I ordered one of the platters and notice they replaced the crab cakes with a "wharf" cake. Definitely not tasty! That sucked because I really had a taste for their crab cakes. The blackened shrimp and grouper were decent. I believe they have changed how they prepare/season their food. 2 and a half stars for me.
Food was delicious, the Wharf cakes were amazing if you are in the area check them out. Was very busy around noon on Sunday but was served quickly. You order at the corner and then have to find a seat which almost led to us not having one. Would love to try more on the menu.
Ordered the mahi mahi basket with side of coleslaw, to go bc was waiting for vet to finish. Hushpuppies were bigger than bite-sized, well seasoned and beautifully cooked. I had grilled, which means broiled for lunch! Asked for tarter sauce, but didn't use as the fish is so moist, tender. I was full before I finished though I had skipped breakfast to drive to my appt!
In my opinion, the best casual seafood in Tallahassee. Try the garlic green beans. They are the best I've ever had.
Oysters on the half shell were big and delicious! Apalachicola platter was perfect. Oysters, shrimp, grouper and a wharf cake. Plus hush puppies and 2 sides. (Cole slaw is yummy!)
