Visited The Edison in May 2022. Loved the outdoor seating and the food was very good too. When I got my check, I noted that the total was much higher than the tab I received from our waitress. Well, I was surprised to see that a 3.5% surcharge was added to the bill for using a credit card. The waitress did not mention this surcharge. I certainly hope that this is not the wave of the future for restaurants or bars.
The Edison is located at the precipice of Cascades Park, an ebullient and aesthetically green area. The outside decor of The Edison is reminiscent old school power plants. It’s inner decor slightly subverts your expectations; the lighting is completely composed of Edison lightbulbs coupled with light-themed interior design. The “Edison Burger” was seasoned very well, much to the satisfaction of my taste analogous to many other high quality restaurants. However, comparing the price to the overall quality of the food, the cuisine severely underperformed. Moreover, the selection of the food items results in a lack of creativity amongst the grander foods. In spite of this, the service was cordial and prompt. Our waitress tended to our needs in a suitable and professional manner. What really tainted the experience was the open door adjacent to my table during the evening. The open door, in conjunction with the Edison lights, invited an innumerable amount of flies and other insects during our dining experience. This greatly impacted our meal as they would fly onto us AND onto the food; a health risk as flies have historically caused a multitude diseases. A few of the seats were deteriorating as well, something many fast food restaurants do not even have a problem with. Overall, 3/5 stars. The Edison = MID.
We went there last night for my daughters graduation. Sat upstairs where they had us all packed in on cheap folding chairs and folding table. Felt like we were at the kids table at a cheap wedding. Service was slow, and food was cold by the time it did arrive. Ordered a mojito that was in a 16oz glass filled with club soda a few floating mint leaves and possibly a little vodka? Told them we did not like it and since it was so far off did not want another. They brought us another that was the same and then a third that more closely resembled a real one, after explaining how they are normally made. Then half way through our meal the waiter told us the kitchen was closing and did we want anything else or desert .note, this was a set reservation so we did not walk in off the street at closing time. When the bill came they had charged us for an extra cosmopolitan at $12.50. But did only charge us for one of the only acceptable mojitos that we did drink. However also on our bill was a set “service charger” of 20% (we did not have a large party, only 6). There was also a 3.5% credit card surcharge. New one on me and would not expect that at what is supposed be a finer restaurant. I guess it’s the cheap gas station approach to match the wedding. Oh and of course a line to add your tip. We were already at 23.5% for an expensive subpar meal and just okay service. And to top it off we asked about the non-refundable $50 reservation deposit that was supposed to be applied to our bill and were told it was just a “scare tatic” to make we showed and should not have been charged to us, still need to check that. All in all feel a little scamed by what is supposed to be an upscale restaurant. Maybe part of it was the busy graduation weekend, but a quality restaurant would not foergo its standards to make some extra money. I
Better customer service, rude staff, over priced, more worried about potential profit then in house customers. Plenty of better restaurants in the area that appreciate the hard earned money you bring to the table
I went in after a hard day to eat dinner and was told I could not be seated due too no reservation and then they let a 3 top in right behind as I waited for a manager who then didn't care and told me to go ahead and write a review. No customer service, worried about potential profit, the food is not worth the price point. Plenty of better restaurants in the area. Do yourself and you wallet a favor go somewhere else and get treated like they appreciate your patronage.
Atmosphere was great but food was not really good ? Disappointed went for lunch 1:30 reservations not breakfast?
We had reservations yesterday for brunch. We arrived and checked in and they seated 2 walk ins before us, then told us we would have to wait if we wanted to sit inside. The hostess did tell us there were heaters and shades and it's quite warm out there, so we agreed. It was chilly and incredibly windy, and we were sat at the table furthest towards the end. This was the windiest table possible. There were no shades, they'd all been removed but one and none of the free standing heaters were on. We asked multiple employees about these heaters, one person told me they were lights and not heaters (they're heaters), and another told us they're not working (we were at an event the night before at the amphitheater and saw them in use). Our scan menu immediately blew away. We got drinks and when the cups got low, we had to hold them to keep them from blowing away. We received our appetizer and the food literally blew off the plate. I went inside and asked the hostess for an inside table and she told me she highly suggested reservations because brunch is a busy time, and unless e would like to wait, we couldn't move inside. I quickly reminded her we did have reservations but we're made to sit in the wind tunnel anyway. Since we already ordered, we decided to move ourselves to a table more blocked by the building and less windy, and tough it out. Because of the wind and cold, our food was all ice cold and so was my coffee. Our server was very nice and apologetic, and we felt bad for him. We kept watching the hostesses over and over try to seat parties or towards the end of the deck and people would either leave or move themselves. It's like she didn't understand no one could sit at that table. When we finally had enough we took our drinks and sat inside in the waiting area. A manager asked if we needed help and we told him we were freezing outside and had already ate. He apologized and told us a large group had a reservation and he blocked off THE ENTIRE SECOND FLOOR DINING FOR THEM and held it and they never showed! Seriously!! Call or text, if not one person of a group big enough to block an entire floor for is there, move on. All these people either left or had horrible experiences, not to mention servers that lost money, because he held this entire section! I was livid! I couldn't believe anyone would so something like that, let alone admit it to someone who just froze and ate cold food with a reservation they showed up early for. This place was definitely a one time thing for us. With different management and hostesses, it could be great!
I got a chef salad and it had 8 dice-sized pieces of tomato, same amount of shredded cheese, and maybe double that of croutons. It was basically a big lettuce bowl with sprinkles of color, certainly not filling, impressive, or presented well as a typical chef salad. For sitting outside and having a beer, this is a cool place, but this salad on this trip was a letdown.
Spent a lovely evening here with our lovely waitress Monica. We were seated quickly with a table of 7. Had heard some bad reviews of peoples order being incorrect or not hot but we did not experience that at all! Our favorites were Buffalo shrimp appetizer and Buffalo dip the whole family enjoyed. Try the wedge salad it’s sooo good. We will definitely come back when we are in town. The burgers were large, my son loved his beef Philly and my mother in law went with the shrimp skewers!
Made a reservation for 5 a week ahead for brunch, arrived on time and was seated and then we were literally ignored for 30 mins. Half of a party showed up behind us and were given drinks. People in front of us were just talking away to the server on Grandparents. No eye contact or even a hey someone will be with you in a minute. This was a special occasion and we walked out. Will NEVER return
