Went to El Jalisco in Southwood during lunch with a coworker and was pleasantly surprised at how quickly we were served. We were seated right away and our waitress immediately came to the table. The food was hot and came out no less than 15 minutes. We've visited several times and will definitely be back. Sn: we arrived a little before 12 to beat the lunch crowd.
Everything was great! I visited around 5:30 on cinco de mayo and waited 30mins to be seated as they informed. Complimentary chips and salsa tastes good. I ordered chicken fajitas $10.99 special price on Thursday. Food tastes delicious, fresh, large portions and server was friendly, helpful and the restaurant was very busy. I enjoyed my dinner and they managed very well with that much crowd. I would recommend this restaurant.
Menu says bogo on margaritas. So does website. No signs or verbal statements saying outherwise. Tried to charge double. Second, they did not give all food on platter. When asked, simply said "we are out of the other stuff." Third, one of the items was 9.99. They tried to charge $15. The waiter went and told the manager that there was a complaint. The waiter came back and told us he was busy as we watched him sitting eating bread. I will never go back there.
I normally do not post bad reviews, but felt the need to share my experience. I have been here a few times with no issues, but yesterday their busiest time of year (cinco de Mayo) I was very disappointed. They always have 2 for 1 drink specials ,but did not have them for cinco de Mayo, they actually jacked up the drink prices! They gave very little food portions in comparison to what they normally give (I guess in an effort to save food and money). We had to call the manager and complain. And then on top of that they added a $12 gratuity charge for a party of 2. I have never in my life seen that. I will not be going back here especially not for cinco de Mayo. I’m upset that I missed out on better places with better deals. I’ll know better next time.
The Southwood location restored my love for El Jalisco. After several bad experiences at the Capital Circle NE location, I tried Southwood for lunch takeout. The service was professional and friendly; the meal was excellent, same way it always is at the North Monroe location. Thank you so much!
I ordered the Fajitas Master Parrillada Fajita as a pick up order. They handed me both my bags and I was on my way. I make my way home, unpack the bags... NO FAJITA WRAPS!!! So I call and tell them, they say, "we are sorry, we will have some ready when you get here." I drive all the way back, walk in and the waitress hands me 1 order of fajitas wrapped in foil, not in a bag, just the 1 order. So I ask, "isn't this meal for two? Is this the only set I get?" she goes back to the kitchen and brings be another set, not in a bag... Directly in hand again.... SERIOUSLY?!!! By the time I get back home, my food is cold!In response to the reply I received:There was no mistake on my part. I am aware the food does not come in the fajita wraps... I have had this meal several times. My complaint comes from the fact that your restaurant completely forgot to include my wraps with my food when they handed them too me. Then, when I returned to said restaurant, the waiter only gave me one set of wraps, directly in my hand, not in a bag. I had to inform her that the meal was for two and I should have received two sets of wraps! If I could review your reply, you would get zero stars due to not actually reading my comment correctly.
Went to El Jalisco in Southwood for our 12 year olds dinner. Knowing they will sing and bring out a big Mexican Hat. The table next to us got sang to with tequilla shot. So we knew we were for a treat with a child appropriate treat. The hostess failed to tell our server so we did. When she came back with a dessert she informed us they were to busy to sing and they were training at bar. We'll she is 12 not 30, wow...could not take a minute to sing. Oh they offered to bring the hat for a pic.... So go to a different place if you want a treat for the child.
Great service and food is superb.. Great atmosphere
No front door parking. Service was a little slow for noon on a weekday with only a handful of other parties present, but the food was great as usual and the staff couldn't be friendlier. Very clean and not too loud to hear your group talk.They handled a special request (extra enchilada) with no hiccups and we were out of there easily in time to get back to work.
