Went for brunch on a Monday.We got seated right away. The waitress was great. Service was prompt, and friendly.I got the shrimp and grits with a side of French toast. My friend got the chicken and waffles.The shrimp and grits were good. I think I would’ve enjoyed the dish even more if the cheese was melted into the grits. Nevertheless, it had good flavors. The French toast were also very good.Chicken and waffles: the chicken was okay, but the waffle was fluffy and delicious.
Not as good as it once was. Very disappointing!
I'm staying at "The Empress Motel" a few blocks away and walked here in minutes.... went in and was immediately told to sit anywhere I like. I always get excited at a diner style restaurant that smells like my grandmother's cooking. The service was fast from order to table and the servers here are really sweet. Marcie was amazing and made me feel at home. Love you guys Thank you for all you do!?❤️?

Nice, clean, bright spot on a very busy street close to downtown St Petersburg. The service was above average, the food was good and the prices were competitive. The place is well kept and you can appreciate the neighborhood support. Comfortable parking behind and around. I had the two egg platter with sausage. Everything was delicious but the home fries were a bit crunchy for my taste. Good coffee, busy place... I think my server was fairly new but did the job with a smile. I'd definitely come back!
Only giving this place 2 stars because at least we got sat quick, didn't get sick, and coffee was ok. The wife and I both got the eggs benedict, and only one eggs was not overcooked, the other 3 were. Really disappointing and what was worse was the server never said anything about it.
Thank goodness, after recent dining disappointment, to discover that Trips is as good as ever. Warm welcome, excellent service and memorable food. Thank you Trips - a most welcome return for us after a prolonged absence due to Covid restrictions. Best eggs Benedict I've had in years - since my last visit here.
Everything we had was delicious, the best bacon I’ve ever had. Shannon was our waitress in Seminole and she was amazing. Shannon thank you for the wonderful experience at the diner.
The more I think about Trips Diner, the more I resent my experience there. I had evaluated a few options for my party of six brunch the day before, and while Trips couldn’t make an official reservation, they did offer to take my contact information and arrival time for outdoor seating which, the employee claimed, would give us priority and get us served more quickly. Sure enough, when we arrived, the restaurant was waiting for us, and I was told that we would be seated right after the next person. Thirty minutes later, I was told that there were “just two” more parties ahead of us, and that “it wouldn’t be much longer.” By probing, I learned that the first person had forgotten we wanted outdoor not indoor seating. After fifteen more minutes, someone came out, apologizing, and said they really didn’t know how much longer it was going to be for an outside table but that they could take us right away if we agreed to sit indoors. She had supposedly set aside a ‘secluded’ area in the corner (to belay our COVID fears, I guess) and we would be quite comfortable there. Inasmuch as our bodies were reeling from standing outside in the Florida sun (Trips could really do something to accommodate its waiting customers), we resigned to our fate, cut our losses, and agreed to make the best of an unfortunate situation. Indoors was everything I had feared. The noise was deafening. We had to yell to hear each other. And for some strange reason, there were four rather than three sets of tables joined together. I had to wonder if someone couldn’t count and/or if the attempt to find us seating for eight instead of six accounted for part of the delay. Ironically, the table settings were incomplete, and as service was inconsistent at best, we had to find our own silverware. The plastified menus were beyond disgusting, sticky, full of syrup and who knows what else. I guess it never occurred to Trips to wipe those down. Coffee was thinner than diluted mushroom broth, and there were only the impossible to open, artificially preserved, Half & Half capsules on the table for dairy supplements. The waitress did finally agree to give me milk, but she delivered just a tiny portion in a small cup (that ended up spilling) instead of in a normal pitcher. Food choices were limited. Not really a breakfast person, my daughter ordered a burger only to learn later that the kitchen had run out. Seriously? A diner without burgers is like McDonald’s without French fries. None of the meals had any hint of healthy components. The maple syrup was fake. The fruit topping for pancakes and waffles were really processed marmalade. My quesadilla was edible, but the “fresh salsa” was clearly from a jar. Sure, the pricing was low, but that comes with the territory. $2.79 for the worst coffee in the world is still $2.79 thrown out the window. Service was horrible, especially if you include the false promises about seating us quickly outside. My wife requested but never received another drink. And we all had to pay up front. Someone remind me why this place is so well-rated? Take it from Cherry Wonderdog – Trips Diner is better off for stray cats.
It was Sunday brunch so they were very crowded. We had quite a wait for a table. But the food was excellent very delicious. Their cornbread is out of this world. I couldn't get them to give me the recipe though. Our waitress was quick and efficient and I change my mind on what I wanted to order at the last moment after she already put the order in and she said that would not be a problem. She came back and checked on us a couple of times even though it was very busy just to see if we needed anything or how the food was I was very impressed by her. She was left an excellent tip because she was an excellent waitress. Not to mention that the food was excellent. Definitely a place where all go again and again.
