So this place gets a 4.8?We were trying to go to 2d cafe but they had no place to sit and not much food in the cases.I can tell you although the reviews say made with fresh ingredients the rice & beans were mushy and crunchy, plantains soggy AFThis place is soooo hotThe set up is like a cafeteria behind the glass. Not the greatest presentation eitherLooks like a hot mess minus the hot on the food but def hot in the airI feel this is a very primitive style cafeI did feel like I was in Costa Rica dying of the heat eating insideHowever food isn't island at all.The closer you are to kitchen doorway the hotter it gets, like a dang sauna. Were Cuban we've def been to quite a few islands although they have island staples (rice/ beans/ plantains & protein)this is no where near the food taste or quality aside from "fresh ingredients"My son said his beans were terrible but the sauce was good (Yardbird)I had (Island Umami) did not care for anything. My husband said his rice was mushy and crunchy at the same time and his beans were also crunchy (build your own)The bill for 3 bowls and 2 drinks with tip $65Obsurdia. I would never go back EVER.I could've eaten anywhere had a salmon for that price. This was a glorified hippy Moe's at bestThe gentleman was super nice, friendly and helped with options available.Have absolutely no idea how they have a 4.8

Great place with friendly staff. The food was fresh but salty. My partner didn't like the food at all, but I think it's worth a try. The previous menus posted here were old, so I took a picture of them today. May 2022

Very good! Usually Caribbean cuisine doesn't accommodate vegetarians but this place has lots of options. I got a bowl with coconut rice, guacamole, mango quinoa, plantains, and a lime sour cream sauce and it was delicious. It's quick, too, since the food is already out and the friendly staff easily puts it all together.

Came in around 4pm Saturday and it was empty, which is so surprising bc this place is amazing. All food tastes so good — including the sauces. Each portion, chicken, plantains, rice, beans stands great on its own. Highly rec & plan to visit again! I ordered the yardbird it was 10/10

Didn’t know what to expect, but we were hungry as we passed and stopped in. Friendly service. It had the hot heat Havana bowl with tender pork, black beans and lots of other goodies and sauce on the side. You can build your own bowl too. Think Chipotle with Cuban ingredients. So good! Ate at a small table on the sidewalk.

I have a feeling everything is delicious here. Tried the Thai-Rican which included a spicy peanut sauce on the side. Didn’t even need to add it! The dish was good all on its own. A nice, chill environment and equally nice server/cashier. Would eeeasily return!!

There are vegetarian options on the menu. You can pick one of their "signature bowls, or combine protein, starch, and sauces to make your own. My wife and I both got chicken based dishes. The meat was a little tough, like it had sat around too long, but the flavor was good. Service was fast. We both had upset stomachs afterwards, Im thinking it was the chicken because we got different starches and sauces.

This was an experience. The restaurant looks cool and unique when you first lay eyes on it. The staff was friendly and took time to answer my questions. Even though there was a lunch rush going on. I decided to try the Yard Bird with Paprika chicken, plantains, black beans and brown rice (a plus for me). The aioli sauce that came with it is a must have. Next time I will request extra sauce! This place is a winner. Winner winner chicken dinner.

Family friendly with options everyone will enjoy. The food is always hot and fresh, with tons of flavor. Everything is house made and gluten free.

very good low key spot you got to.try it
