I finally tried Sushi Rexley in downtown St. Petersburg last night, had their signature omakase. It’s a small venue, only 10 or 12 seats at the sushi bar, they only do omakase. The restaurant is fairly casual with a young and very knowledgeable and interactive staff, but don’t let that fool you. The food and the overall experience were superlative. They had a wonderful variety of unusual, seasonal and exotic fish, sourced from around the world and of impeccable quality. Preparation was mostly traditional with some interesting twists that worked well (a whiskey-shoyu brushing for some fish, for example). They showed tremendous attention to detail and clearly strived for perfection in everything. Last night’s omakase included: simmered firefly squid; branzino, madai, hirame belly and marinated halibut sashimi; cubed albacore with caper oil; akami, ora king salmon and o-toro nigirizushi; ora king salmon cured with koji (wow!), hiramasa belly and shima-aji nigirizushi; buri carpaccio; uni with house-made tofu and yamaimo; shirako; fried cod roe; salmon roe and skin temaki; abalone with abalone liver rice; seared A5 Wagyu beef with uni cream; scallop and anago nigirizush; tamago. This was such a pleasant surprise, I’ve finally found a serious place for sushi here in Pinellas Co.

What an incredible experience. The fish you taste truly redefines what fish are supposed to taste like! The flavors are simple and bold and perfectly balanced. The people working are so knowledgeable, thoughtful, attentive, humble, and extremely kind. There is nothing like this anywhere in the area. So special. Thank you very much, Sushi Sho Rexley!

The most authentic Japanese sushi restaurant on the west coast. It's where you go to enjoy sushi you've never eaten in your life. I get the Omakase which is more than 15 different sushi tasting experiences. The sushi chef will stand in front of you and make each piece while giving you an education about the fish and it's unique condiments. You never need to put soy sauce on anything. Everything is perfect just the way it's made.Every time I go, it's a different experience based on the seasons and the type of fish that are available. Here's a few from my meal tonight. The one that looks like steak is Kobe beef from Japan! I also get the Sake pairing, which is a perfect compliment to the fish served. They are booked days in advance and they don't accept walk ins, so you need to plan in advance. Their maximum capacity is 11 people! Most of the people I see eating here are well dressed couples who are enjoying their first Omakase experience. You have to be a gamer to eat some of the dishes! Ha!

The sushi was exceptional and Art serving the Sake pairing was a lot of fun. We do sushi all the time and this was a really unique experience. Well worth it.

Incredible is an understatementThe best sushi meal I’ve ever hadAn amazing show with great serviceI’ve been to Nobu & blue ribbon…I’ve had some of the best sushi in Hawaii, Miami, Manhattan. This onscreen is an unbelievable experience.I regret not going sooner, you will as well.

Amazing experience tonight with the family. We had the omakase and it was one of the best meals of my life. If you love sushi and have an open mind to new food experiences... this is the place.

Top 5 meals I’ve ever had. Each dish elevates the next. Don’t miss out on this place. Very unique experience!

Literally the best sushi we’ve ever had. Run, don’t walk. We’re still floating on clouds after this meal! Worth EVERY Penny and more. The service is excellent, the fish, exquisite.

One of the best birthday dinners I've had. TWICE. I've been here two years in a row now for my birthday and both times have been amazing.Free parking right behind their restaurant where it says customer parking only.We made a reservation for the omakase shogun with the sake pairing. I was honestly SO full from this meal. My husband had to help me finish my food and sake lol. Each dish was amazing and plated beautifully.Arte explained each sake that was paired with the dishes. He was fun and energetic throughout our meal. Chef Rexley explained where the fish from the dishes came from as well as explained to us the other non fish dishes. This was our first time having uni and it was so good! There was also another chef/assistant? that prepared some of our dishes and he was great too (sorry didn't catch his name!).One for the best meals and experiences I've had at a restaurant. Honestly, every bite was delicious. A lot of care was taken in our meal and service. Highly recommend for a memorable evening.

This was one of the most amazing dining experiences I have ever had. The only restaurant to come close was The Lodge in Keystone, CO.From beginning to end, each plate had a unique, fresh, umami flavor and the food literally melted in my mouth. Michael made our experience so wonderfully enjoyable, making sure to educate us and recommend the best way to eat each piece. "At" was a wonderful host - friendly, engaging, and constantly smiling. Rexley was a wonderful host, educating us on pieces that were served. The intimate atmosphere was wonderful and made us feel like the experience was just for us.I DEFINITELY will be going back there again.Thank you Sushi Sho Rexley!!!
