I am from out of states and I heard the lasagna here was to die for so I Came in for the lasagna. They did not have it. It was alright I suppose. For the cost I expected more and since my visitation here is limited whenever I’m here I don’t know if I’ll be back. But it was clean and everyone was very professional.
Just got home from a WONDERFUL dining experience at Portofino Italian Ristorante on 34th st S. It was our first time there, even though we are locals. OMG I can’t believe it took us so long to find this place! From the lightly battered, delicate calamari to their home-made creamy Italian salad dressing to the authentic Lasagne to the flavor-packed Ravioli - EVERYTHING was exceptional. Really some of the best Italian food I’ve ever had. As a casual restaurant, I can’t wait to go back to try their pizza. The owner, Patty, even stopped by our table to chat. I only wish I had saved room for their home-made cannoli. I have no idea why we didn’t take some to go. Well, that will give us more than a good excuse to go back. If you enjoy Italian food - DO YOURSELF A FAVOR. Thank you. Did I mention it was “Wine Wednesday”? Bonus :D
New dining room layout and new menu (for me, haven't gotten out much lately) but still my old favorites. My hot sandwich was delicious. My companion had that days special and he said it was delicious. Great place for lunch.
Hidden gem. Bruschetta was on point, very authentic. Anti pasta salad was huge for a 1/2 order. Meat calzone was huge and tasty. Chicken Francaise (sp) was fantastic. Oh, let's not forget the hot bread & oil to start. Only thing negative I have to say about anything is the sangria. Don't order it. Will travel to south Pinellas again for this place.
First time at Portofino - had a late work meeting and decided that this restaurant would be convenient as everyone was traveling in different directions afterwards. Hostess was great, waitress was great, food was great. If you’re looking for a really good neighborhood Italian restaurant - go to Portofino! Thanks for a great dinner and great service!
Excellent vegetarian options
We were looking for good NY-Style takeout pizza after a long day of travel. Found Portofino not far from the hotel and were pleasantly surprised. Excellent pizza. So good, that on day 2 we are already repeat customers. Great great pizza!!!
Lunch. Nice and simple Italian atmosphere. They charge to get a second empty bowl to share the bowl of chowder. No cups. Waitress was a little difficult when asking her to read out menu selections. I forgot My eye glasses 5o read the menu.
