I remember Po Folks from long ago (80's), it was a great restaurant with everything cooked fresh. When I recently visited the Tampa area and heard there was still one up there I had to go.I started off with the fried mushrooms and horseradish sauce. It was good, and hot too. I ordered the fried chicken for my meal. The chicken wasn't seasoned at all, no taste what so ever, corn on the cob tasted like dirty dish water (you could tell they leave it sit in the pot all day) came with mashed potatoes. Not greatMy friend got the catfish without bone and traded me a piece for a chicken thigh (we don't give food we trade, lol)The catfish was really good, fresh and hot.For dessert I ordered a blackberry cobbler with ice cream. There wasn't a berry in site, just a purple colored jelly. NastyMoral of the story, stick to the catfish.
Great good, quick service.
This could have been a great experience but ended up fair. I went to this restaurant to relive childhood experience. The only reason I rated this as a 3 was because the side dishes we're okay. For me in any comfort food restaurant that makes boxed sides should really consider making homemade sides. Now the things I loved about the restaurant. The Fried Chicken Gizzards were supposed to be to taste but couldn't stop eating. The chicken-fried steak was small but was just as I remembered so for me it was great. Peach Cobbler was the way I wanted to finish my meal, it was excellent.
Tasty food, good portions, good prices, excellent service and friendly people. Not too busy in the late afternoon when we went. Very nice.
This was an okay restaurant. It is very affordable, but the quality of the food was mediocre. The lady that served us (Ella?) was very nice and tried to make our experience better by offering sauces.
?Stop in for lunch at PoFolks were working in that area which we don't do very often we all had the lunch special fish ?and chips ?and sweet tea,? hot♨️ and fresh ,the service was good, and check-out was freaking easy on our way out again plenty of parking and plenty of seating in the restaurant they are always busy there, the food is good and the service is excellent??
Awesome food. Had chicken tenders and they give generous portions dope. Already ate two by time I took pic. If you don’t like this place you don’t like food
Po Folks? I didn't know they had a restaurant for people like me. I just did a counter to go purchase. My rating is purely for the quality of the food-which was far better than I expected. Really good battered fish and chichen tenders. I also love the train set and the country decorations. Their lunch portions are just right. Any bigger and I'd have to take a nap in my car before going back to work.
Excellent on: Location Atmosphere Service Prices Food quality Food variety I used to go to Po Folks in Georgia frequently until they closed all but their Florida locations, so we were thrilled to find them here in St. Pete. My wife and I took my Mom and sister there. We had an excellent country-style meal. They have improved their menu to offer better selections of veggies and sides. The noise level was low, so we talked easily. The food prep and taste were excellent. They were able to respond well to my wife's gluten-free needs, which is not as true at places like Cracker Barrel. All in all, well worth going again.
This place is amazing for the price. Their chicken is as good as anywhere. The staff was friendly and helpful. I didn't dine in but had enough of an interaction to get an idea of their standards. I was waiting and an employee came and updated me on the ETA, brought me a complimentary drink and topped it off on my way out. Tracy is amazing with customers.
