Stopped here randomly and loved it! Owner is very cool and friendly (we discussed Germany and my husbands great great grandparents being from the southern region). The menu was amazing and my kids loved the cheese pastry! I ordered an iced dirty chai and it was probably one of the best ones I've had. Super cozy and will be going here from now on for my morning drinks while in town. Also, can't wait to try some cabbage rolls!
Update: You're welcome and thanks, Bianca! Take good care. Until next time, be safe and be well.Excellent food! The owner is lively and interesting and takes so much pride in her work. She makes the food by hand. I had a delicious ham and swiss on a croissant and my friend enjoyed his meal (can't remember what he ordered). My orange juice arrived in a fancy glass and the German potato salad on the side was incredible! Unfortunately my friend and I left before she was open the following day or we would have paid La Deja Vu another visit. Next time! Thanks!
CW: Transphobia, Anti-LGBTQ+ TLDR: Coffee is fine. Bianca, the owner, is a transphobic, anti-LGBTQ+ fearmonger. We visited this place for the first time today, ordering coffee and quiche and hanging around to work for a bit. Everything was largely fine (if unremarkable). Eventually, another customer (seemed like a friend?) came in and both of them started loudly talking about their shared hatred for the LGBTQ community. They referred to LGBTQ people as "sickening" and spread nonsense about "the agenda". They repeatedly disparaged trans women, referring to them as men and spreading lies around trans participation in sports. Downtown St. Petersburg is an inclusive area, and there is no place in it for people like this. Regardless for the food or drink, there is no reason to frequent a place where the owner will happily and openly spread lies, misinformation, and hatred. Trans women are women. Trans rights are human rights.
I've eaten here a couple of times now but I've never left a review. The owner is so kind and so sweet and her almond pastries are out of this world!!! Love this place and everything they have <3 I'll be back soon :-)
I just stopped in for an iced coffee, as I try to divert from the consistency of Starbucks. The place was vintage gypsy vibes, but not in a planned hipster way. More like your grandmas house. The pastries were set out on the countertop for display, instead of behind a glass case and they did look delicious. That being said, the lady was working alone on the day of the Localtopia Festival and was too busy doing it all to really create a good drink. She poured it over ice, handed it off and left me to my own devices. I found the cream nearby but was too slow to order syrup so left with a blah drink.
This is a very quaint bistro cafe. The owner was very cordial, and the food is great. Food has a German theme, with a daily menu along with coffees and teas. Desserts are great. Everything is made from scratch. Very reasonably priced.
If you want good food, coffee and a conversation with the very intelligent and friendly owner; make sure to stop by this place. Awesome spot, by far the best cup of joe in the burg.
It's Deja Vu Cafe all over again. Quality product, place, service and of course culinary✔️??
Absolutely wonderful experience. The lasagna was great. I was a little sad that my girlfriend didn't need help finishing her plate. The owner is a wonderful lady that has worked hard to make such a great place. Will definitely be back before we leave town.
This is my favorite place to study because the ambiance is perfect, so homey. Everything I’ve ever had is absolutely wonderful. I am so perplexed how Bianca does it all herself and does it AMAZINGLY. Yesterday I had the stuffed cabbage, pumpkin ginger cheesecake and an iced chai. I highly recommend all of them.
