A friend had a poor experience and I still decided to come in and try it on my own. Giving a 1 star because this place/ownership lacks professionalism and common courtesy. For some reason, we were pushed out fast when their were multiple tables available, indoor and outdoor. Regards to the higher prices— the quantity and quality of food canimprove.By the way, the comments from you, the owner from other reviews is very uncalled for and tacky. Do better.
What a lovely first time experience here. We had a delicious halloumi and roasted beet salad to start. Then I had a whole roasted 1 pound mangrove snapper that was just delicious. Staff was great food was excellent. Can’t wait to go back!
If I could I'd give Baba more than 5 stars! We throughly enjoyed a delicious meal, plating was spot on, service was outstanding! This is an airy, beautiful space with lots of outdoor seating as well as indoor seating with a beautiful bar. Octopus is one of our favorite dishes and hard to find prepared well. It was scrumptious at Baba. I can't say enough except, we're definitely going to be back. Thank you for a perfect evening!
The restaurant has comfortable indoor and outdoor seating. Tables are are apart and service is excellent. Overall the experience is good, the drinks, appetizer, entrees and desserts are good. Except I have better rack of lamb elsewhere and it's less than $40.
The food and drinks were PHENOMENAL. My fiancé said the old fashioned was the best he had ever had, and this is his go-to drink that he gets everywhere. I have never had rabbit and the rabbit was AMAZING, as was the steak and our halloumi/beet appetizer. Our server Eric was super awesome as well. We live nearby and will absolutely be back again very soon!
If you're missing the Mediterranean - this is your spot.Menu isn't huge but it's authentic! Everything we tried was delicious n made from scratch, they even grow their herbs outback.Service was great, everyone was super friendly and helpful.Their drinks were most impressive! They had unique flavors, never even heard of mixing! And wines from the Mediterranean And to top it off - the bakery! WowThis place has it all! Definitely a must ?
Stopped here for lunch on a day trip to St Pete. Sat at the bar to eat as it was a busy lunch scene. Nice atmosphere and a great patio. The service was nice and the food was awesome. Loved the pita and spread sampler. The spicy red pepper fetta cheese spread was incredible. Next time I'm back in town, will try for dinner for sure.
Being native to St. Pete, I can tell you there are several better restaurants in the area for the price. I recommend enjoying one that will allow you to enjoy your dining experience in our beautiful city, without rushing you out the door for the next check. If you would like to learn more about our experience read on…I had received mix reviews on BaBa but being Greek, decided to try it. We spent close to $300 for 3 for dinner.I ordered the Pompano and it was quite fishy. I ended up not eating it. My best friend order the steak medium and it was practically raw. My sister ordered the lamb chops, they were fine. Salad and appetizers were fine, as well.If my rating was on the food alone, I’d give Baba a 3. However, our experience brought the rating to a 1. Admittedly, we were 15 minutes late for our 6pm reservation, as downtown parking was challenging alongside other circumstances. Upon entering the restaurant, Deb, the owner immediately tells me there is an 8 o’clock reservation behind us. There was no ‘hello’, or ‘welcome’, just “this is when you have to leave.”At the end of our meal, we had paid the bill and were finishing up. I was about to use the restroom before leaving and Debbie comes up to our table and says, “I need this table now” it was SO RUDE. After spending nearly $300 at her restaurant on a mediocre meal, she’s didn’t care about our experience, she cared about turning the table. In reading other reviews, I see we aren’t the only ones that had the same experience.
Dear Debbie,I wish I could give my restaurant experience a zero from last night. After a funeral, my 2 girlfriends and myself had made a 6:00 reservation for dinner. Due to the funeral running late, we arrived at 6:15. The woman who sat us proceeded to say “just so you know, we have an 8:00 reservation for this table”. Quite rude, but we moved on. We ordered a couple appetizers, drinks, salad, 3 entrees, and then dessert. Entrees were overpriced and mediocre. My skirt steak was way undercooked (nearly raw when I asked for it medium) and the pompano fish was fishy. After we finished, the same woman came to our table with sass and attitude to inform us she needed the table for an 8:00 reservation. I have never in my life been treated with such disrespect at a restaurant. Especially after dropping nearly $300 on what was a mediocre dinner. I asked her name and who she was. She is the owner! I am floored that a restaurant owner would treat her patrons this way. So if you want to see eat at Baba with Debbie the witch, make sure you understand a few things.1. There is a 2 hour time limit on your dinner and their tables. Then you are asked to leave. Something in my 38 years I’ve never encountered.2. You better be there exactly on time, or Debbie gets irate.3. The owner has zero respect for her patrons.4. They don’t understand how to properly cook a steak.5. Fish smelled and tasted like a dirty vagina. Now a few tips for my friend Debbie. Don’t overbook your restaurant. And if you do, offer your patrons a seat at the bar instead of asking them to leave. Just common sense really. Get yourself a spa day, you seem a bit on edge and uptight. Maybe they can find the stick up your a** too. Until next time! Oh wait, there won’t be a next time.
Any restaurant that calls patrons VILE and tells them to never go out again should close down. Nasty and basic.
