Took a little bit for our grill to fill with customers, but once we got cooking, the experience was great!Lots of food. I got the filet mignon and chicken. My wife had chicken. Had leftovers. Great taste and good service.
We were really excited to have a nice hibachi dinner with the family. Instead we waited over 30 minutes just to even get our drinks, from that point we waited another 40 minutes just for the chef to come, so over and hour to start eating. We were told it was because of a lot of birthday parties but honestly the restaurant was almost empty. And then to make this experience even more unforgettable, we had a giant COCKROACH run a cross the table at my father in law, we brought this to the attention to someone working at the restaurant, and her answer was “oh yeah it’s a big fly bug”?!???? And she walked away, the “big fly bug” (as she called it), hung out with us the rest of the dinner on the side of the table!!!Not to impressed how the handled it. But we stayed because we were extremely hungry. On a good note (I don’t want to sound like that person who just wants to complaint about the experience) the chef was great, best rice I’ve tried and the rest of the food was ok.This happened last night. My husband and I had a great dinner at Yamatos. It was our first visit. We came in at about 9pm. We were greeted with a smile and seated immediately. Our waitress was very friendly. Our dinner didnt take long at all to come to the table. We got the chicken and steak teppenyaki. The Covid roll and Spicy tuna roll. The sushi was good. The entree was fresh and hot. When we were getting ready to go our waitress brought us everything at all we may need. To go drinks, to go boxes with sauce cups and a bag too. Even chocolates with the bill. Everything was about $59. It was very worth it. We have plenty of leftovers too. I highly recommend Yamatos. Great experience overall. ?
My folks were in town visiting and we wanted to treat my father to dinner for his birthday. One of the better bang for the buck Teppanyaki grills I have been to. Food quality was about average but you get soup, salad , rice and noodles with your meal. Service was just average, not bad but not that entertaining either.
First off, we have eaten here many time and service was good with the food very good as well. We are locals to St. Augustine and frequent many restaurants in the area and love hibachi. Our last experience was completely upsetting though. I booked a reservation for my wife for a night on the town well in advance(nearly a week),to secure the reservation for a special night. We arrived to find literally dozens of people waiting outside who advised us good luck with getting a seat. We arrived 15 minutes early to our 5 o’clock reservation. Upon advising the reservation specialist at the front that we had reservations at 5 she said sorry it’s currently a 1 to 1 1/2 hr wait. I tried to plead my point that the reservation was made well in advance for our special evening with her advising everyone in front of you also has reservations. Is that common practice to overbook reservations especially one that was made well in advance. Needless to say we weren't waiting 90 minutes to be seated. I understand you are trying to fill tables but it shouldn’t be to the inconvenience of someone who made the reservation well before anyone else. Just something to think about for future practice.
Got takeout last night for Mothers Day. I ordered Tuna Tataki and the Eagle roll. The roll was just ok, but why they didn't actually peel the cucumber is beyond me. The hard peel made it difficult to eat. The tuna was NASTY. Half covered in peppered skin, and so much sauce that it was like soup! Also plopped a huge pile of Wasabi in it, that it ruined the dish. And the sauce leaked on everything. All our food was soaked in the vinegar sauce, making it all inedible. $80, a total waste of money. Won't be back.
I believe we got the worst cook. He made the biggest mess I think possible. Used so much oil. A dash of salt and pepper. I mean, there was no point in using such a small amount. Shrimp was tuff, rice was not done. My group of 3 was not happy. And the front of that grill was disgusting. Food was still on it from previous cooking, and when our chef got food tossed up there, he raked it back on grill. Just zoom in on the pic from when we first arrived. ? Then he slung an egg there, and it slid behind grill. How do you get that out? Noodles were good, but not $120 worth.
Delicious food and great service ?
Visiting for a long weekend and found this near by. I ordered chicken and fliet hibachi style dinner. It was done in 20 minutes and prepared exactly how I requested. They even gave me extra sause on the side without having to ask. Staff when I picked up my order were great. I would definitely come again and maybe eat in for dinner. Thank you!!!
Very nice place. Our young chef did a good job. Food was delicious and plentiful. A bit pricey, but it was a fun dining experience you should try if you’ve never been. We ordered the dinner for two.
