A packed parking lot and a line outside the door tells the story! This place is popular because the food is good! If you want quick service, go to the take out counter and order. There are lots of picnic tables outside where you can eat fall-off-the bone ribs and other goodies. Don't pass it up!

Our neighbors Mom owns this place and we finally went and I have to say we were impressed!! I personally got the ribs and beef brisket. Both were very tender and very generous portions. The taste was what really made it good though. They also have a good variety of sauces which also includes Alabama white sauce which was good and had a little kick. My wife got the sausage and turkey I sampled the sausage and it had a really good flavor. The sides are quite good as well and the portions are quite large. The green beans were well seasoned and the coleslaw was good as well I sampled my wife’s greens and they were really good. The banana pudding was good as well. Honestly there was really nothing negative I could say about this place. We will definitely be back. This place is a hidden gem
I love BBQ, and this has been on my list of spots to try for a long time. Locals rave about this place! We wound up going right when they opened at 11am so we could dine in and not have to wait in line. This place can get packed so plan accordingly!There are several meat and side options that you typically find at many BBQ restaurants. I wound up going with the two meat plate dinner. I ordered chicken (dark meat), pulled pork, baked beans, and coleslaw. The plate comes with buttered toast. I also ordered an additional side of mac n cheese. There were several sauces to choose from such as sweet, mustard, vinegar, and more!The baked beans was the star of the meal. Probably some of the best I've ever had! The mac n cheese was average. The rest of the food was good, but I wouldn't say it's the best I've ever had (or even the best in the Jax area imo).The service was top notch! Our waitress checked in on our table frequently and always made sure our drinks were filled. Dessert is offered here, but we were all too full to try any.The only real knock is that it seemed a bit pricey compared to other spots I've been to. Granted, ongoing inflation may be impacting their pricing.
I have listed Woodpeckers as my favorite place for 5 years....Even though Barbeque is usually way down my list. Ribs perfect. Datil cornbread perfect. Datil slaw perfect. Sausages great. We have ordered 5 times in 2022. All carryout. 1. Ribs just ok....not very tender with lots of hard jerky. 2. Ribs just ok....not very tender with lots of hard jerky. 3. Ribs inedible.....tried to carve off the jerky but there was no tender part. They are still packed every time I go but I will wait and see future reviews before going back.......It is like losing a friend1
Went there for the first time today, the food and service was awesome and we definitely going back. Even better blessing was the owner is a friend of mine from 80’s that I didn’t know how to get a hold of and now I do! Great day!
the baked beans, sausage, green beans were great. the chicken was pink and the pork was good just had to get hot sauce from store across the street and it taste great. the staff was very good looking, attentive, and nice.

The Absolute Best Brisket l have ever tasted!!! From N.C...We know Good Bar-b-que!!!!My husband and l shared the 3 meat dinner: brisket, ribs and slice turkey, macaroni-n-cheese, Datil slaw, baked beans, Datil corn and Datil cornbread. Make sure you get Some of the Homemade Banana Pudding and Blackberry Cobbler. EVERYTHING was Delicious!! Large portions enough for 2 more people to eat off it. This is definitely the place to go! Donna the waitress was absolutely Fabulous! Very Warm Friendly Personality! Lisa the Owner was Super Nice Also. Whenever we come back to Jacksonville, we will definitely be back! My wife and I just had some pastries and coffee at Spring Park Coffee so we decided to stop by and share their dinner portion Brisket platter paired with collard greens and macaroni and cheese. Loved their brisket. It was moist and tender. Put some on top of Texas toast with their famous hickory and mustard sauces and I had myself an open-faced brisket sandwich. We even had leftovers for later. Excellent service. Everyone was so nice and friendly. Highly recommend.
Just good barbecue. I have tried the brisket, pulled pork, turkey, sausage, datil baked beans, regular baked beans, and the coleslaw and they were all terrific. I will be a regular customer. I really like the datil baked beans, and the datil barbecue sauce.
