Key West Ahi Tacos so flavorful and fresh. Jerk Chicken pineapple quesadilla incredible. Black beans and rice are bland. Sweet potato with chimichurri looked really good
My wife and I went to Back 40 and we love it! We tried the steak quesadilla and the chips and salsa. Everything was perfect! I highly recommend this place if anybody goes to St. Augustine .
Wide variety of items on menu. I have veggie chili w rotini. Delicious! Husband had bowl w rice, beans, avocado and grilled chicken. He loved it ! Their homemade datil hot sauce is awesome. We even bought some to take home. Outside of restaurant a little off putting but don’t miss if you are in the area ! We will be back.
I was not expecting much but this place exceeded my expectations! It was off the beaten path! The food was SO good! It’s the small little tucked away places that End up tasting so good!
Wanted to resume our before Covit practice and going to back 40 for our taco Tuesday . There were a total of 6 in our party, we arrived around 4:30 - 4:45, we seated ourselves, there were 2 tables occupied, not busy at all. The waitress, did not get her name, blond ponytail, took our beverage order and served us pretty promptly. The place started gradually to fill up with new guests while we’re waiting for the waitress to take our order. We’ll we waited and waited, to our surprise we noticed that she started to take orders from customers who came much later after us, we tried to get her attention and she finally came to our table , her opening statement was” the more you wave the longer you wait???? She lectured us like little children……. Thank god for another server, I think her name was Karen, she was very accommodating and tried to save our dinner, again she was very friendly and apologetic Sad that we encountered the other server first! We will not take our business there again, don’t like to be treated that way , we’ll bring our business to the Back 40 on A1A, not sure if same owners, Very disappointed
I found Back 40 on Tripadvisor and, based on the ratings, just had to try it while my husband and I were in St. Augustine. The food was, indeed, fresh and delicious. I had the Tostada and my husband, the Wet Burrito. Terrific choices! The service was prompt and lovely. Our recommendation to future out-of-town visitors: take home a bottle of Back 40's proprietary gourmet datil pepper sauce. We can't get enough of it. If you like quaint spaces and fresh food, Back 40 is the place for you.
Great place for our late lunch during a road trip. Tacos are excellent as were the other dishes we ordered. Service was friendly and efficient. Neat old house turned into an eatery with great original artwork on the walls that is also for sale.
Calm, relaxed Mexican with a diner style. Good food reasonably priced. Fast and pleasant service. Enjoy!
Great food and service , Happy Hour daily 3-6 $3.50 tacos and $1 off beer and wine. Bottles are 1/2 off so great deal
Delicious food and lovely shaded patio. Glad we detoured off 95 to check out this hidden gem.
